April, 2018 Quilting/Sewing Goals

Anything new happening in your sewing room this month? I'm to the point that I can pick up anything laying there and work on it. Not really, but I'm only listing a few things this month because I really want to get these done.

Finish the Elephant Top, Finish the Bright Star Top, Finish (UFO) Spots Dots & Hearts and make into a quilt. I'll be playing with a few other things but these are the main items.

Do you have an agenda this month?

I have several quilting goals for this month. 1) I need to complete two labels. Such a little task, but I'm stuck since I don't know what I'm doing with the quilts (keep, gift or donate). Then I can bind and those two quilts will be done. 2) I found an old wooden ladder (curb alert), I'm going to turn it into a quilt ladder. 3) I have 5 UFOs, two of which are sets of lotto blocks that I won awhile back. Anyway, I simply want to pick one UFO and start working on it.

Has anyone heard from Bethhappy lately?

I want to finish quilting my Acadia quilt with Baptist fans. Beyond that, I just want to get in the quilting groove again. No specific project.

I'm almost finished hand-quilting this project I'm on, so getting that bound and thinking about what's next is all I have on my wish list. I might work out a design for an art quilt next, I bought some batik fabric at an LQS sale recently that would make an excellent Winter sky.

Have nothing specific on my list except get the two quilts to the LAQ. Then maybe I will go through my bins and tidy them up, remove anything I will never use and donate. I did some of that earlier last month and gave to my sister who knows of a group that makes charity quilts. And probably try to get some garden cleanup done. Yeah! Spring!

I got several small things cleared off my plate. We are on a cruise next week (yippee!) so when we get back I'll figure out what's next. :)

We have the retreat next week, then Tim and I have a hike the 23-25th, so not a lot of sewing for me. I do have the hot air balloon quilt in the frame, and 2 charity tops that need finishing. Guess those will be my goal.

We're in the finishing stages of our remodel. My sewing room will be converted back into the dining room. My sewing spot will be contained in a giant armoire. Still deciding on the exact location. I'd like to have it in the bright & airy den, but don't know if that's practical. It may end up in the front room. Hmmm....most likely no sewing until the very end of the month, if at all. I'll live vicariously through y'all until then. Happy Stitching!

I have so many projects in the works right now. Have 5 or 6 quilts basted that need to be quilted, several in the piecing process, and two that need binding. Not sure where to start, lol! I just fly by the seat of my pants most days. ;-D

My sewing goals are small; 12-1/2” square to be exact. I’m sewing on the May lotto blocks. One is finished; two others have the third row pinned in place. I have colorful squares cut for a fourth, but I ran out of “white.”

I ran to town and “splurged” on a full yard. It’s in the dryer now.

My Big Project is not sewing, rather off-topic, but birding. I’ll make a separate post on it.

Rita, what a great idea to store and display quilts! I never thought of that. I have 3 just thrown over the arms of my couches! I think that' going on my husband's honey - do list!

Good job everyone on 'doing' something......anything! The ladder is really the easiest way of hanging to UFOs to be visible. DH made me one but we have no wall space to lay it against so he screwed it into the back of a door that's in my sewing area. I told him if we ever moved, that door was going with us. He said it can be taken off. This was in 2011.........4 these tops have been finished and given. I am still at the WIP stage of 2 of my monthly goals. One is a completed top.....for now. :-)

Oooh on the door! Even better way to store since I don't have any available walls pace either! TYVM!

I’m a bit late to the discussion but my April/May sewing goals are to sew the pillow covers I’ve already cut the pieces for and put aside. These are for some smaller throw pillows to go on the sofa, and will be washable (definitely need to be washable when the dog likes to lay on sofa pillows!) and at least one pair will be triangle squares-pinwheel pattern. It took me a while to find what I was looking for in fabric on Etsy (stores in my area didn’t have any Asian themed material let alone any in the colors navy/silver).
