Can a hanging pendant outdoor light (to be used under a porch) be converted to using a rigid stem? Our electrician does not advise using a pendant light with a chain. We live in a windy area and he thinks that even a very short chain hanging from the porch's ceiling will spell disaster. Can we remove the chain and encase the cord inside a hollow rigid stem, thus stabilizing the light better?
