contemporary vs. farmhouse

I'm in the process of buying this contemporary style home but I prefer a farmhouse style decor. Help me figure out what to do to these rooms! I love the natural light but it seems so blah to me right now. we have 7 people in the house so a huge table is important!

It's true...we have been pushing Modern Farmhouse style in the past few posts because a lot of folks seem to like it now and is versatile. Importantly, it gives texture and warmth. You have brick walls and wood floors

and that would work perfectly. It would warm up your space nicely. Above is a mood board to inspire...Remember to go big and bold due to high ceilings. All best!

find a large hardwood table. if you can find it in distressed wood or old barn wood that would pull in a farmhouse style to the dining area. maybe mason jar lighting/chandelier?

Use wider light-coloured drapes to ceiling height. The dark ones are chopping up the walls. The walls are begging for art. Put the dining room furniture on a LARGE rug to create a room within a room.

You’ll need another large rug for the sitting area - as well as a greater variety of seating. The arrangement in the picture looks as though a conversation would be shouting across a valley.

The decor will have a huge effect on the feel of the space and you have tons of space for a really nice big farmhouse style table

Some houses can't be bent too far to a different style...
