Are you quilting this weekend? April 6-8

Hello Quilters! I'm getting an early start on my weekend question this week. I haven't had time to sew this week but I hope to work on two quilts I have started.

The results of my MRI were good. No further testing is needed at this time. I'm so glad to be done with that. We have had Dr. and Dentist appointments every Monday for the last month.

Such great news, Linda!

Donna, I wish I were flying to anywhere today. I woke up to 4°, windchill of -12°, and - surprise! - more snow. Yesterday was supposed to have been the coldest April 5 on record for 138 years.

I will be sewing on the Squares & Oblongs blocks for the May lottery. I have grandiose ideas of doing “more,” but if I get even one May block together I’ll be delighted.

Yesterday I mended - LOL. I “mended” a chicken-printed promotional tote bag from Tractor Supply. Exciting, right?

DH uses it as a laundry tote for his work shirts that go to the cleaners. A top side-seam had unraveled about 2” down.

I was putting a couple items in the tote and thought “It’s time to pick up another TS tote.” Then I thought “I have this fancy-pants sewing machine set up; I also have the 1952 Singer set up...”

I stuck the tote under the Bernina and closed the seam. I didn’t even change the thread. I still had a light grey thread from April’s lotto blocks in the machine. It worked fine on the light beige dry cleaning tote.

Life gets so exciting out here in the northern prairie.

No sewing for me...tomorrow morning we fly to LA for our Mexican Riviera cruise! WOOHOO! I am really ready. :)

Dropped the two DGGD's quilts off at the LAQ. That counts, I hope. I started going through fabric bins and anything too small to be really usable is getting cut into strips, squares and strings. Hope to keep at it today, tomorrow and forever.

Good news Linda! Donna, enjoy your cruise!

Home after being gone since December! It was a shock to the system to wake up to snow today after being in Mexico and Arizona since December. My mom sent one quilt home with me to quilt, so may try to get it sandwiched. Still putting stuff away and going through mail - ugghhh. She also sent a bag of quilt stuff that she messed up the pattern and wants me to try to figure out. That may have to wait until next week when I have more brain cells functioning! We are having DS and DGD over on Sunday for dinner - can't wait to have some snuggle time with her!

Linda, Thankful you had good test results. Now you don't have to worry about that one. I told DH the other day I'm plumb wore out going to our dr appts. One of his problems is taken care of and the other one (is taking 3 different drs) will probably need caring for the rest of his life.....as will mine. But, we're still doing well. I just want to stay home for 2 days in a row. lol

I have a UFO I'm working on and hope to complete the top this week-end.

Great news, Linda.

Caroline, I'm right there with you...fed up with cold weather. It's suppose to get to 19 degrees tonight with snow flurries on Sun and Mon. I should be out gardening like crazy...can't...so I'm inside quilting like crazy. I'll have all the colored squares done this weekend, hopefully, and cut the white sashing strips. I was going to save this for the quilting bee after cutting, but I couldn't help myself and have sewn up the squares.

Two of my kids share a birthday tomorrow, one year apart. We'll be going out to dinner to celebrate. They'll be 43 and 42. I can't believe it. I think I'll have a crisis when they hit 50.

I am packing for retreat, packing my quilting stuff that is. I like to have any cutting done before I go so that I can spend all my time sewing. I can't wait to get there. I so need these few days away from home and work.

Most of yesterday was taken up by the kitchen stove. Getting it pulled out, and cleaning behind, under, and beside it was a Herculean task for me.

It completely died before the remodel scheduled for this summer. I had to temporarily replace it with a used electric stove from an appliance repair shop. Once the remodel and gas connections are ready for the new dual-fuel stove the new/old stove will be donated to a Church’s emergency supplies warehouse.

Yesterday’s brief allotted sewing time resulted in this...

I'm also getting stuff together for retreat. I've got string blocks to work on and when I get bored with them there are Dresden plates to experiment with. I might also start a disappearing nine patch from some charm squares I've had for at least 15 years. I have all the time in the world to work on quilting but I'm looking forward to the camaraderie of retreat. Here it's a very isolated activity.

No quilting yet for me, but I'm anxious to get started. I'm doing our taxes this weekend, and I need to take them to our accountant tomorrow. Since there are still about 12 inches of snow on the ground and more in the forecast, spring yard work is still weeks away, so I might get some inside tasks done. After being gone for three months, it takes a while to get back in the swing of things.

Have a grand time at the retreat, gals. I'll be looking forward to the photos of the activities.

Glad to hear your results were good, Linda. Wish I was headed to a retreat this week, but I will be attending the Paducah AQS show with my sister next week. Took a few days off of work for a much needed reprieve from stress of work. I pieced a baby quilt over the weekend for a former employee from work. She had a little girl in march. I love baby quilts because you can crank them out fast. I used all scraps except for the gray cloud fabric. Still have to embroider her name and DOB in the top border, but I like the way it turned out. Should be able to finish it by the end of the week!
