Have you used 3-D home-design software?

I read and article today discussing local solutions in technology that lets renovators see their dream home in 3-D. I have seen this concept on HGTV's "Property Brothers" but did not know if there was retail software to purchase and how easy it would be for the average person to use.

Hi there! I had been working in the field for 7 years, I´m 3D Artist working for Interior Design and Architecture Studios, training and rendering for students and professionals in the area.

For quick renderings I agree with SketchUp Pro as an amazing and easy tool, without any necessary knowledge about this type of software, you can add the V-ray plugin for rendering and get a good realistic image.

For a photo-realistic image I would prefer 3D Studio MAX, with V-ray as well, for rendering the final image. Is preferable to know about AutoCAD 2D before 3Ds MAX, but you can still run into this software without knowing anything about it.

My experience as a teacher had shown me that anybody could use this softwares with a proper studying and organized way on how to start each project. The main thing is based on learning the interface and the tools that you count with at the time to start any modeling, after that you can save a lot of problems in the future and your project it´s gonna fluid.

We have designed a SketchUp plugin called PlusSpec, I've attached an example design for reference.

It's very easy to use, we'd love you to give it a try, incorporate it with the RubySketch model library and you can quickly fit out the house and get a good concept together.

We do 3-D designs for all of our design clients. It really helps them visualize the design we have in our heads.

I use Sketchup Pro to do visualizations for homeowners and designers. There are some simpler programs that can help individuals do a little designing, but there are tradeoffs in the accuracy of the final result.

We use Auto CAD for all of our projects...and we offer 3D as well...if the client chooses this plan as part of the design package.
