Also, should I have pillows on couch? I was lost on colors if so.

Do mean to state the obvious, but book cases look best with books intermixed with a few special objects.

I'm slowly filling my built in bookcases with books mingled with gorgeous vintage glass pieces! It just depends on what kind of look you want to achieve. You already have some great pieces on the shelves--just mingle them with a great collection of books.

Your room looks really nice. It has personality and doesn’t look cookie cutter. The only thing I am wondering is if it would look even nicer without the black and white rug?
