Thank you for all your nice comments. I posted in the www.brownstoner.com recently and there was nothing but negative commentary. Under Insider Bay Ridge home renovation.

I have a black galaxy granite counter top in my master bathroom and that is very difficult to maintain. Water spots, contact lens solution, toothpaste, everything shows a lot. I will never get a dark counter again.

Very nice, the lighting is a fun touch. I think the corner with the coffee pot looks boxed in. Maybe this wasn't avoidable. But overwrite, great space.

I have a solid black granite counter and island in my kitchen and love it. I have has it now for maybe 15 years and it still looks as good as new. I find it very easy to keep clean and shiny.

Overall it is beautiful! A big improvement! My only concern is the cabinetry flanking the cooktop. It seems to me that having them so close would be a fire hazard, not to mention that having the heat so close might damage the wood/discolor the paint.

Good job. It looks like the window was moved or you have different pictures taken. But it looks great.

Beautiful job. I especially like your cabinet configuration to create furniture-like units, and appropriate use of crown moulding at the ceiling level.

The countertops are antique brown granite. It was a special slab from European importers in Sunset Park Brooklyn. The cabinet color is not linen it is cream with onyx glaze. The tile for the backsplash is bubbles (glass and crema marfil MARBLE) FROM WWW.GALACTIC-TILES.COM. We started out in NYC with my architect at Nemos, Saks, etc. The finishes were out of budget because alot of $$ had to go into repairing this 110 year home from the foundation up so I kept finishes simple. I went for higher appliances cause do cook and I do respect the opinion regarding the cooktop close to the cabinets, as my architect and granite guy wanted to move them. But I was tired, had two properties impacted hurricane sandy and i was with change order. thank you all for such constructive comments. i am partial to dark countertops and i use a mild soap on them and they shine.

Additionally, i love the cooking configuration as it gives me lots of room to move around and it feels private in the little nook i created. i added that window at last minute so the sink is more in line with the wine area. it works okay for me.
