shaker cabs with flat edge pulls?

Would it be a design faux pas to mix flat edge pulls with shaker cabinets? I see them being used on flat cabinet doors for a full on minimalist look, don’t really see them on shaker cabinets. Thoughts?

Would you please define 'flat edge', given there are a number of edges on pulls? Did you mean flat front/face? Perhaps a couple of visuals/examples might help.

Yep, luckyblueeye’s picture is what I’m referring to.

They're very nice in a modern setting--I almost think the drawers pictured above are a little too traditional for the look, but a straight Shaker door in a contemporary/modern kitchen can handle it just fine. Take the time to find ones with a more rounded profile so I don't keep snagging my clothes on them though, kay? :)

I think they look ok. I was interested in a similar style pull, but I had a hard time finding phots with shaker cabinets. Would you use those on both cabinets and drawers?

Would they be a functional faux pas? Have you handled them in person? Are they easy to grip? Easy to clean? Easy to use to open a large heavily loaded drawer/ Do they hurt when you accidentally bump them? The wrong answers to these would make them a "no" for me.

I've never seen these in person, so there might not be any issues, but I would want to find out before I committed to a full kitchen of them. I changed the pulls I was going to use in my kitchen because of a functional issue I found after getting a sample pull.

I'm on my second set of knobs, too. At least with these, you don't (depending on model) have visible holes should you decide to go with a more traditionally styled knob/pull later.

I opened this thread thinking a definite no, but I actually don't mind the example luckyblueeye posted! I would never have thought they'd work together.

Do you know if you can use this style pull with a paneled dishwasher?

Here is our linen closet. I love the edge pulls with Shaker cabinets and am considering the same for the mudroom (again, Shaker cabinets). The advice I was given from pal (which I did not follow but have remembered and am considering on this project) is to center the pull (1 vs. 2).

I think the look is great!!! I have redone my kitchen with the white shaker cabinets, embarrassed to say over two years ago and still do not have the hardware or pendant lighting, because I cant decide. I do know I want brass or a gold finish, ..and I saw the flat edge pulls and thought of using them, so until today I google what it would look like... I now see how nice it can look!! I love how my/ the cabinets look without anything so this is very minimal. So where would I put these pulls on the upper cabinets?

Glad I found this thread! We are doing a complete gut of our kitchen, I want shaker profile cabinets (wood), and was wondering if the flat edge pulls would look ok. I think we'll do larger 1/3 of the drawer width. I think.

Yes, it would probably be better to have larger pulls on the wider drawers? although I’ve never tried these flat pulls…. I keep posting this link because it gives you good info on the basics of cabinet hardware placement and sizing:

Hi - we're updating our kitchen and are considering edge pulls with our shaker cabinets. We like the modern/transitional look, and if it were up to us we would have flat modern cabinets (our house is architecturally traditional and we don't have the budget to put in new cabinets so will be painting or existing shaker cabinets). Do folks have examples of how their edge pulls look on their shaker cabinets? I found this online but not much else.
