Sandybean. I agree with not covering the table. The cups lay on their sides as it offers a little more stability when reaching in or out of a cabinet - as in less chance of knocking them over and chipping the rim or breaking off a handle. Plus it isn't wise to stack cups, as I've seen some people do. Also, to save on cabinet space two cups would often be lain down on the same saucer and at opposite angles to each other, or the body of one cup nestled (stabilized) into the 'mouth' of the other whilst remaining on their sides. My mom would do this with her delicate china, and I do the same with the few china/porcelain pieces I have kept.

Looks very nice. I would take the placemat off of the table and just leave the vase of flowers. cant see your mirror but I think I would prefer artwork in that spot not a mirror.

i have coffee stained the map of my country and placed it on the wall for now— kinda like to keep it instead of the mirror.. for now

Bellburgmaggie I have refinished it-you probably didn’t see updated pictures.. I love the results and honestly wish I’ve done it sooner :) when I sent the pictures of an updated refinished set to my daughter she loved it and asked me where I got it from lol didn even recognize it

The room is small, so bright colors like white, vanilla, cream, jute, and pale shades make it look lighter and brighter and "bigger". So great job so far!

NOTE: I'm not suggesting you move the drapes but what the other person was saying is you hang them DIRECTLY like an inch down from your ceiling or crown molding, and outside the windows. So they hang "wider" than the window by as much as you need to push the drapes fully back and see out the entire glass of the window. It makes a window look "larger" by sometimes 2x than it actually is, by hanging over empty wall space. Again, don't change what you have its lovely - but now you know what she meant!

Since the room is small you want to draw the eye up and down - and don't the drapes help do that? You also have a nice high piece of furniture that has about two feet of dead air above it that you want people to notice. Consider something like an 18" potted fake lemon topiary tree and pair it with two other varying heigh pieces so you have a collection of 3 bright cheery items in the top of the hutch.Your eye will suddenly go "up" which is a designer trick to enlarge small spaces. (If you notice people keep mentioning lemons. It's because they go GREAT with deep blue. Please consider it, you'll probably love it.)

The room now calls for a very elegent chandelier. This might be the ONE thing you buy new. COngrats on all your hard work!!!

If do some plant a FAKE one, like a fern. But not sure u need it.

forgot to ask about chair seats fabric- should it be changed? If so what kind of material?

i am also planning on removing some blue dishes from the cabinet and replacing them with white, to have some blue/white balance.
