Looks like a fun project. Have the flooding problems been solved and the damage been dealt with?

Have you thought about powerwashing down to new wood and staining (or color staining) or just sealing for a natural look?

If you want to paint pressure wash first apply a mold and mildew killer first then pressure wash let it dry prime with a long drying oil base primer and top coat with a 100% acrylic paint but I like handymams idea of staining it look at Sikkens log and siding if you stain pressure wash mold mildew killer and then a brightener to the gray out
