We are designing lighting for the kitchen area of a new condo that looks out on the ocean (!)

The 10 ft. island will serve as an indoor dining area (we will have a dining table also outside on the large terrace). We opted not to have a sink or stove top on the island.

We will also have a 63" floating desk in the kitchen that might be a location for a hanging light.

Recessed lighting is indicated on the layout with XX highlighted in yellow.

I would like to have hanging light fixture (or fixtures) over the island. Not sure how many -- 1, 2, or 3.

We might want to have a hanging light fixture over the floating desk.

Questions:

1) How many light fixtures over the island--one large one or 2/3 smaller ones.

2) If we have a light fixture over the desk--should this be the same as over island (but perhaps smaller)?

Style: midcentury, minimalist, modern, beachy.

Current options: Nelson saucer lamps, white globe lamps, jute fixtures
