Sophie, do you mean on the stairs? No wasn't putting moulding on the stairwell....putting down engineered flooring on the stairs, with white risers. Should I be? wouldnt that be wierd on the eng wood?

Fori, yes that's probably the best bet just not sure the finished product of drywalling will look great and the large hand rail doesn't come off without ruining the drywall so they'd have to work around it in places. But maybe get a quote for that. thx

You do realize that your rise and run cannot deviate by more than 3/8” or the stairs will be red flagged as out of code? That goes for the top and bottom steps too. You really cannot change those stairs without rebuilding them entirely.

Get rid of the molding and patch the drywall, please. It's unlikely that you'd have to rebuild the stairs or even replace the treads. Put a skirt on that thing, please.

ok, a skirting...thought Sophie mean a base moulding. Does the skirting go on before or after the engineered stairs are installed - looks like before, in that pic. And can they be purchased generic OR have to be custom cut exact? I am new at stairs....have done lots of other renos/cosmetic stuff in many homes...but never stairs!

Sophie, in your picture of the stairs, I have been looking at 2 coordinating colours for our place....almost the same as what is shown above and below the chair rail moulding. Do you know the colour codes in that pic. Thx for your help.
