Tagged as Daybreaker - isn’t!

last modified: 8 years ago

I picked this up with the tag “Daybreaker”, about 5 years ago but it sure isn’t that. It’s a gorgeous rose, blooming apricot at the center and soft coral at the edges and ages to the soft coral all over. Blooms are full to very full in small clusters or singly on long stems with about average number of largish prickles. It smells really really good and sometimes the fragrance will waft to the sidewalk like a Mr. Lincoln. It is prone to blackspot and was grafted on Dr. Huey (tag also said “own root” grrr). Leaves are glossy dark green with very serrate edges. Petals are lightly ruffled. Any ideas as to what I got so lucky to get? My neighbors keep asking me what it is and I’d like to know even if I’m not sure I can recommend something that gets blackspot during a dry 9b summer. Thank you!
