I think you'd be more efficient with one on either side of the sink.

What is the reason for two? Is it keeping kosher, or simply convenience?. If convenience only, they are better in two completely separate locales, each having it's own sink. Such as one on a prep island the other on a perimeter wall. No reason for identical sizing as one could be 18 inches versus 24. Or two 18 which may be better long term.

As to convenience:? Don't make the mistake of many before you............and end up with a "space sucker" that remains never run and EMPTIED of its clean dishes, or worse, dirty dishes added to a load that was clean, or both half full and on it goes........:( More is not always better, and in fact can make significantly more work.

Side by side location is a bad idea, and remember that trash always accompanies a cleanup of the kitchen......an that will end further away from a sink as well.

Often one is in the kitchen and one is placed in a butler's pantry closer to the dining room for ease in clean up.

I wish I had two when we entertain but other than that we are a busy family , we have international students, usually 2 and we find one DW handles it no problem.I have back to back sinks in my island and I would do one by each sink .

If you want them to both be used, put one on either side of the same sink. It is a great setup- I have this and would not have it any other way. Having to reach over one dishwasher to get to another is pretty inconvenient.

Two dw has been great to have. Either side of the sink will usually be better but I'd take side by side if I had to. Would want at least one paneled.

I love having 2 dishwashers and have my sink in between them. When we have one, we always have dishwasher running and a pile of dishes in the sink that no one claims or loads, except me. Two dishwashers lets us alternate and always have a dirty one for new dishes. When we entertain, which is often, we use both for easy cleanup.

I think having a sink between them is the best layout but I am doing a remodel where I can only add one if they are side by side. I think i am going to do it anyway.

Kristine, how were the 2 installed? We also have 2 dishwashers with a sink in between them and keep on getting e:24 (drain blocked) issues and I think it’s because of how they’re installed.

Start your own thread. If you have a garbage disposal? Make certain you run it long enough to fully clear, pay attention to what can NOT go down, such as starchy pasta and fibrous foods like asparagus..or coffee grounds, and even eggshells.

Now and then, put ice cubes in it and run until smooooth sound.

Don't buy the BS of dishes not rinsed of food before loading. ...WHERE DO YOU THINK THE FOOD STUFF GOES? : )

In theory it sounds like a good idea especially if you have a large family of people making a lot of dirty dishes.
