Console Table Decor Ideas?

Just bought this narrow console table (8 inches wide) in a dark chocolate colour for short hallway. The pictures frames are black. Looking to put something under the table with colour (maybe a thin vase?). Looking to tie everything together. Any ideas? Pictures would help!

A basket underneath the table angled and closer to one side or the other would be a great start! A slightly taller plant or a tall narrow vase with with foliage and a couple of candles or a short bundle of books next to it would help complete to look.

    Happy decorating!

I agree with the above ... also, I would space the pictures slightly closer together (but no higher).

suggestions,,switch out all of the white covers and outlets to a light gray. they do make them.

you could try putting a little stool under it if you can clear the base portion.

some ideas of how you could make that spot a bit better

How about an oval woven basket to soften things up? If the table is near a door, you could keep shoes in it.

Table is only 8" deep so I don't see baskets, benches being anything but a tripping hazard. I would do a wider lower planter

I would drape some fabric on it, somewhat like this:

Not necessarily this fabric, but something to hide the outlet and the doorstop. You could even remove the doorstop, since the console table is now effectively a doorstop.

To me there needs to be a purpose for things to make sense. So what is the purpose of that console table being there? Do you need lighting (so you need a lamp on it)? If you don't NEED it to be there, then that's your cue that it doesn't belong there. I really can't see what you would put in a basket right there, so I would not start trying to decorate with just more things that don't make sense. I can't see any purpose that that table would play there, so I would remove it. And instead of those 4 pictures, I would hang one large piece of art.

For some reason I thought it was an entrance hall and would serve the purpose of being a surface where you could drop things when you first come in, but if it is just an interior hall, I would have put a bookcase there instead.

I too would not put anything deeper than the table underneath and I think the function of the console can be aethestic alone. More than one object you like can be put on the top and underneath as was done here.

Honestly, I think I’d find another place for the console. It does nothing for that wall. You’d have been better off with something that wasn’t open at the bottom. All you notice is wall and an electrical outlet. If you can find something to fill in the bottom, I think it would be an improvement. Maybe a couple of tall glass vases like these.

With a narrow table and the style of this lower portion here are some ideas for you.

Perhaps a few plants under table, a larger piece of art, keep it simple, but interesting.

Another thought. Your pictures are quite nicely done, but they would be even more striking if you could get those photos done in all black and white. Might want to try that. Since you have light switch and other permanent items on the wall you made a good decision on the set of prints. Even though a larger single piece might work better, you have “conditions” that must be worked around.

I like your table....since there is a electrical outlet there, I would put a slim lamp....sort of like a buffet lamp plus a plant (sort of a trailing one like a Pothos) on top. On the bottom, I am not sure I would put anything. Might need something to hide the lamp cord....a pretty colorful vase or a couple of tall candlesticks might work. Keep it simple.

Here is an idea for you that might help. Try placing a basket to one side on the bottom, then a vase and plant on opposite sides on the top, then drape a fabric on the table. Take a look at our design below for more ideas:
