Why Anglophillia? Some people like gray. I wouldn’t want to make someone who likes gray feel like there’s something wrong with that.

Paint isn't going to fix what is wrong in this entry, it's the drywall sidewalls on the staircase. The drywall should be cut back and a banister and balusters added to the stairs.

I love gray but I love the look of white with black doors..can give a modern farmhouse style...agree would be nice if rails could be put in but if not in the budget I would go full on......modern farmhouse....add a stained wood ledge top for railing.

Painting the walls grey sounds arduous. Paint the doors and the sidelight and the wood trim on the staircase a pale pearl grey, add rug, and possibly small console and mirror and lamp to the left of the door on the short wall to the left.

Home Interiors--where are those lights from? I like them! Want to see if they have semi-flushmounts in polished nickel in the style of the first one you posted. Love the black front door as well! Thank you.
