Solarizing garden soil

I saw a video last year where someone created rows for planting and covered them with black plastic to bake the soil and kill off weeds, insects and pathogens. I thought the same thing could be accomplished with black garbage bags and provide a place to store soil from last season. So I packed it all into several thick, heavy contractor quality garbage bags and left them outside all winter long. Now its coming time I want to reuse the soil and I'm wondering how long I need to keep them in the bag? The bags were outside during winter so I can't say there is a full 4 to 6 week period that the bags have been baking in the sun. Its a lot of soil to bake in my oven and I can't afford to buy all new soil so I'm wondering if anyone else knows about pasteurizing soil in this way? I would like to speed up the process, I saw one guy who says he steams his soil outside which could be faster since even if its small batches it's outside on a fire but I'm also in the city and don't have a fire pit.

Any suggestions on how to pasteurize a large amount of soil would be greatly appreciated!!!
