Claire, I love that idea. Where in the world would I find a piece similar to that, almost a loveseat/trundle bed? But my finances are limited.....I was hoping to use the chair and table?

thanks Ellie.....I have been looking, but most of them have a low, centered window, this one seems more of a challenge since the window is so high and offset. I wonder if curtains, like the others I have in the bedroom would help the space?

For balancing of off center window, how about a nice floor lamp in the left corner (for reading or whatever you do in the chair), a plant on the table top along with a book and something small and meaningful, a decorative piece on bottom shelf of table, and art on the right short wall that is perpendicular to the window. When your budget allows, a smaller round table would help the space look less crammed together. Treat the window when you have everything else in place. Looking forward to seeing your progress!!

Linda, have you considered using this alcove as either a desk or vanity area ? ( Don’t know your bathroom situation, but it is always nice to have natural lighting for applying make-up - or just a personal space to keep your “special things” ie. notes, cards, jewelry, perfume, mementos....) you could offset your window placement with some elongated art ( see vertical plate arrangement in pic. ,too) , a pretty wall vase or candolier . If you still wanted to use your chair , you could just pull it forward to the edge of the main room wall , or perhaps, somewhere else in your bdrm./house. If not using a desk or vanity, you could also, place 2 small scale chairs w. a little round table - even if they need to be placed at a diagonal . Sending some pics. for inspiration -

Linda Herron, is there another empty space maybe you can have the chair and table there too.

Budget-friendly ideas:
1. simple ready-made drapery panels on a wall-to-wall rod. You can uncover the window or just enjoy the texture and softness.
2. a 4'x6' rug to add color.
3. a floor lamp if you would like to use the area as a reading nook.
4. a small table you already own.
5. a comfortable chair you already own.
6. appropriately-sized art on the two side walls
7. a footstool or ottoman to put your feet on.

(This is not a place to drop your sweater or today's shirt. It is a place to relax and unwind or to read a while before moving on with your ToDo list.)

Wow, great ideas here! Niccihg, I have a nice office space for my desk, I have not decorated it yet though, but it's another room just for my office. Also I have great space in the master bath for vanity and lighting.......I really wanted a little sitting area to read etc.

Claire, there is not another space for the chair in the master.......maybe when finances allow I could use it elsewhere in the house and so a love seat here, but for now I need to use this chair

Beverly, I love the look of the window panels and I have two just like the ones on the other windows in the bedroom, also I can see how the round table really does make it look better. I will have to keep looking for one...... I went to my local TJ Maxx today and found a great floor lamp for $80.00! I think it will look really nice.

OK, I found a shelf I could put on the wall opposite the chair and maybe put a little vase of flowers on it. Ideas on that?! I love the wall pockets, but trying not to spend. I also found a oval table I had in another room. Would that work as good as round? Thanks for any suggestions!!

I agree with Elle, this space would be perfect for a reading nook. Adding a lamp on the side table or a free standing lamp might get the ball rolling.
