Help in Master Bathroom-- too many metals

I am aiming for a romantic, french-inspired master bathroom that has some subtle masculine elements/clean lines as well. I love bathrooms that have a white backdrop with brass fixtures. I made a huge mistake in choosing oil rubbed bronze fixtures (faucets, shower etc.) before I discovered my love for brass. And now my bathroom looks like a hodge podge of metals--there's oil rubbed bronze, there's some brass in the accessories, and there's chrome (shower). And I don't like it. It does not feel cohesive. Of course, my husband will go bananas if I even suggest changing all the fixtures (the worst case scenario would be a change--maybe I can sell them on Craigslist and replace with brass fixtures; and spray paint the feet of the tub a brassy gold?) because we just renovated this bathroom! So now I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? =(

I have included a photo of a bathroom I wish I had seen before we renovated this bathroom. I love the romantic, brassy--yet not too feminine look of the bathroom.

Change .the mirrors out to wood ovals very inexpensive from Home Depot. Try painting the walls a different color like a deep taupe so you have some accent color for that beautiful tile.

Agreed, the mirror would be the easiest component to change so it fits better with the rest of the bathroom.

I think your bathroom looks lovely and interesting! How about hanging gauzy curtains from the ceiling framing the tub? Also, art on the walls with a darker tone that relates to the oil rub bronze fixtures would help the room feel more cohesive. Also, cocoa color towels by the tub will add contrast on the wall tile and relate to the ORB as well. Beautiful bathroom! Nicely done!

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I think changing the mirrors to wood is a good idea. That would neutralize some of the femininity of the overall look if that makes sense. Hopefully I can sell these brand new mirrors and recoup some of my money--these babies were expensive! I still wish I had bought brass fixtures vs. ORB, though! =(

@Darzy-- the bathroom is far from ready! I plan to hang curtains from the ceiling, as you suggested,to frame the tub-- thanks for confirming the thought and thank you lots for the compliment. Makes me feel a little better!

I do too!! Wood is going to give even a more masculine and less french feel to room. Also I would consider gold leafing your tub feet and work toward what you really want!

You may want to check out Home Depo, you will be able to get gold leaf paint there, get a lot of foam brushes 1" wide and constantly mix the gold leaf as it is actually gold leaf. It is very thin so you will have to be very careful with it., and clean up is with mineral spirits or gasoline not soap and water. Thus the many brushes so you can just throw them away. They have all kinds of spray paints, but you would have to remove all fixtures to get that done. Craft stores have a gold wax type stuff that does not come off, you can rub it on, once dry it stays.It comes in gold, antique golds, copper, silver and I believe bronze. Yes you need some towels etc. with a dark color,may be you could find something in dark brown and have a gold monogram initial or custom embroidery done on them. You could add a dark Eiffel tower to the room.too kitchy?

Thanks everyone! I have posted all my ORB fixtures and light sconces on Craigslist and HOPE they sell so I can recoup some of my money-- at least on materials--and will replace the fixtures with brass ones. I would like to change the light sconces to something more clean lined and "masculine". I am still on the fence about the mirrors because I do love these mirrors--perhaps, I can find a place for them elsewhere in my home. If I do replace the mirrors, I will look into wood framed mirrors or something more simple, such as in the inspiration photo. I also plan to paint the feet of the clawfoot tub white so the brass does not overpower. Last, I will try to find gray gauzy drapes to frame the tub.

One last thing from me...fly in the ointment. :) If it were me, I would replace the sink faucets with beautiful chrome in the same design. Chrome will be stylish always, then those beautiful mirrors and sconces will be perfect and to me make the room! Also, the hinges on the shower are the chrome and will complement beautifully.
