Please let us know what color it is when it blooms! Good job rescuing it! I want a plumie, but I really don't want anything else I have to haul inside during freezes.

Sentimental connection: Broke off 3 stalks from a large yellow bush at the Belleview Biltmore historic hotel on the last day they were open in 2009 (at a special weekend to say a goodbye that we all hoped would be temporary). The 2nd is still in a pot and has rooted itself into the ground; I water it but until the junk tree above it is gone, it won't get enough sun to bloom. The 3rd stalk I may have given to a neighbor for her collection, come to think of it - I'll have to ask her - hers get full sun and are currently blooming.

Gee, now I realize I can top the ground-rooted plant and start the tip in a sunnier location. Can I cut and root several of that stalk or is it just the tip that will root?

I had a beautiful pink plumie at my house in North Port, but a freeze hit it and I couldn't get a piece to root. My multi-colored one (can't remember the name) died in its pot when we got too much rain. I dream of having another one, but my aparment is a jungle in the winter now with all my tropicals inside.

Although, I'm working on doing a setup like I had in my old house, where I had three ceiling hanger hooks in front of the picture window, and I hung a long dowel rod across them during cold snaps/storms and hung multi-level plants from that. I had more hanging baskets back then, with two fine oak trees outside to hang them on. I miss my oak trees so much!
