I would recommend measuring the distance between the center of each block and then use that measurement as the center to center distance for the stars, then sew your star border blocks. . Confirm the distance between the center stars is the same as the distance between the center blocks...just a verification. When you go to attached the border, I would fold the border at center star in half, line it up with the center of the middle block and sew the first half, then confirm the balance of the border lines up as well.
