Layout Challenge

We just moved into an older building with a ton more space and a second bedroom for our son, so it's a serious upgrade. However, the living room layout is tricky. We need the space to serve as an entryway/living room/sometimes playroom/possibly office AND have as much storage as possible. Any thoughts on how to make it work? We have a big-ish sleeper sofa that we need to function for guests occasionally, so would prefer not to put the sofa in the narrow area. We also have a large bookshelf on the wall before the big bedroom (photo-- remember, just moved in. Stuff is not "done" just out of the way). We're not committed to any other furniture, though a TV is necessary.

Positives: Charming original details like wide plank hardwood floors and a transom windows.

Negatives: That bathroom location...

So, any ideas? Also, if anyone has amateur friendly layout software to recommend, I'd love to try to figure things out.

Thanks!
