The sliding door in the photo is called a "barn door". This one was custom made of birch wood, stained dark and lacquered to create the shine. The track was purchased at Barn Door Hardware and the handle on the door is a commercial store front handle. If you google "barn door" you'll see tons of images of different finishes and styles.
