Things are starting to take off here too finally. Took apart/divided my huge Sagae two days ago. Moved two other biggies. Feels good to get back in the swing of things.

Beautiful photos of beautiful hostas. No idea what it means, but love the name Zitronenfalter. Phoenix is a very handsome plant, haven't seen it before.

ken, those teepees are stainless steel sticks for tomatoes. I intended to plant them in a row as sun protection for a few hosta. But the ground is so full of stones that I gave up...And then I just put them in a ring and fixed them together on top. They are holding the peony flowers at the moment, but I want to plant a clematis and a wild rose next spring. Actually I'm pleased with the result. They add some height to the garden without being too heavy for such a small piece of land :-)

Jo, I just feel like a six year old finding one sweet after the other...You should see me in the morning, talking to my plants, the biggest smile in my face...The garden is perfect, just like I wanted it to be and a few of the older hosta are getting big now (might cause problems next year, but this year I simply enjoy what I've done)...

It is good to hear that the garden keeps you busy now...nothing better than to be tired from day's work and to see what you've done :-) Hope to see some pictures soon...I'm so glad that I did not divide my Blue Angel...It's the first hosta I see when I come out of the house and it gets really big this year...

ADG is definitely on my top ten list :-) Fourth year for this one, the cups get big and beautiful...

Nice to chat, Karin :-)... your BA is huge! I don't think it is done opening up completely? Looks like it will be talking to the tree "shove a bum, chum!" Lol

I actually moved my Blue Angel a couple of days ago, and removed and transplanted two large chunks from my Krossa Regal --- all this so my GE could get some light and some glory. Now BA has room to grow undisturbed.... as long as I keep pruning the weigela lol.

I like what you did with your metal stakes - very creative and adds an interesting element to your garden. Inspiring.

BA is still growing, one day I go outside I will see that it has devoured the tree...Maybe I will remove the tree next year, the magnolia behind it is getting big enough now to give shade and the small dry needles of this tree are everywhere. So it's days are counted...Maybe the Sambucus Nigra Tower will get this place...I'm always making plans and always it is totally different in the end...as with those tomato sticks :-) Maybe I can get some blue glass elements to hang inside...

If I still had room I would have several Krossa Regal...no.3 on my top ten list :-) I sold a big one last year to make room for others...so it is good that you still can just move BA without dividing...The small thing that I got as a GE last year hasn't made it through winter and I'm still wondering if I should buy another one. Yours is so beautiful but I have heart from a lot of people that they had problems with GE...

Karin, thanks for all the pictures and sharing your garden. I especially love the "hanging pots" and the stainless steel stakes. How did you tie the stakes together at the top? They nicely add height to the garden.

Your Blue Angel is wonderful. Lovely that you see it first when you step out of the house.

The latest divisions bring my number of Krossa Regal to four. I planted one in an area that gets plenty of sunlight. It will be interesting to note the effect of the sun on the colour of the leaves. It ranks high on my favourites list as well. Love the upright habit.

Until such time that I move, Blue Angel stays undisturbed. GE is getting preferential treatment...don't think I would have divided it for any other hosta! Let's hope GE is happy about more elbow room.

Karin, you will be among many of us who decided to give GE another try. It truly is beautiful.

Glad Ken asked about your obelisks, because that's exactly what I was wondering. I love them and that is a very clever idea! I didn't know you grew peonies too. They definitely need some help sometimes to stand up straight.

Jill, there is a little hole at the top of those stakes and I put wire through it and wound it around until they held together...Maybe I can find a solar light chain to wind it around one of these...My head never comes to rest when it's about gardening :-)

Jo, I had a potted Krossa Regal in a sunny place, but it lost most of the wax and some leaves got burned :-( Regal Splendor is doing better at the same place...

Next year's list will be short, maybe I give GE another try, depends on what happens in winter. I think it would be good to give it a place in the garden and the space there is very limited...

Nichoslworth, last week of my holidays and a wonderful looking garden, it will be hard to go back to work...I took thousands of pictures, glad that we have digital cameras with huge memory cards...

Popmama, I have three different sorts of peonies, saved from the neighbours neglect together with some ferns a few years ago and I never regretted that I gave them a place in my garden. The heads of the white one are very big and heavy and need help to stand upright.

these pics are fabulous!..I thought of you as we were working outside yesterday and today..I changed my mind about where to put the "character" log..my husband said "I don't understand why you want this but where should I put it?"..we dug out sort of an uneven trench so the log would rest firmly..I think it looks great..I'll take some pics and post them..we also started the stone edging/retaining wall across the back..it feels so great to make some progress..have a wonderful week in your garden..you'll enjoy those garden pictures for a long time..

I'm looking forward to those pictures! I'd love to have a few of those logs myself, but the size of my garden allows only twigs :-) It's magic, two months ago there had been nearly nothing in that spot and now it is brimming with life...

Saw the pictures of your fox friend, he seems to be a regular guest at the peanut table now :-) I find traces of hedgehogs every morning at Max' cat food, they like those dry pellets...

Far away from having everything but very grateful for all the things I have...I love this small world, for me it is really like an island. Only thing I would like to have is more room for sunshine plants to attract more butterflies and bees and bugs. But maybe that changes when the hosta are flowering. I like to watch those little creatures and I see more coming from year to year and with them come more birds...:-)

Finished 3 sempervivum planters today, exchanged some double hosta for them...

Patina really is a nice small hosta, unfortunately with unknown parents :-(

Karin, thank you. I call the stone river 'The Ravine'. Shasta rules the house. She is a rescue dog: half black and grey German Shepard, she has a lot of Black Labrador, one sister (six pups and the mother left in a barn starving) is tan with a crinkled brow. Loves everyone, hunter extraordinaire.
