Blast them off with a strong stream of water. Just an FYI but some - not all - species of honeysuckles are aphid magnets!!

Yes the best thing for him might be to remove and replace with one of the kinds that doesn't have a significant aphid problem. Or another genus of plant entirely. Such as Clematis.

Any suggestions of Honeysuckles that are not Aphid magnets?

I have noticed more aphids this year, roses, peonies, honeysuckles, etc. Go figure. Yes, the water spray is rude but effective but has to be done regularly and while the roses and peonies are easy to do the twiggy honeysuckle is not. Give your neighboe hope that next year might be better....

Aphids - and honeysuckles have their own species - seem to be most attentive to woodbine (L. periclymenum), perfoliate honeysuckle (L. caprifolium) and the hybrid L. x. brownii. I find that they are less attracted to L. japonica, sempervirens and xheckrottii. That doesn't mean immune....only that I have witnessed much less of an issue with these species.

Unfortunately L. periclymenum is my favored species of honeysuckle, both for the flower colors and strong fragrance.

I have had few issues with hosing these vines down with water when the aphids are present, typically early in the season.
