Queen beds are approx 60 inches wide by 80 inches long. Room is 8 ft wide (?) x 8.5 ft. It matters where the door and window are located.

It would be tight, but doable with either lighting mounted to the wall (sconces) or from the ceiling and either floating shelve(s) for nightstand(s) or something with a small footprint. Let me see what I can find that works.

Where is she keeping her clothes? Is there a closet elsewhere outside of the room? Or does she need to accommodate her storage within the room?

^I prefer this one to the top pic because of the canopy taking up visual room IMO. But the floating shelves and sconces are the best use of space. JMO.

Every bedroom in NYC is tiny, it's all about the details. Don't skimp. When you look into the room it should be lush and tranquil. No point to try to make it look bigger as you can see below.
