The damage is being fixed as we speak. The wood under the carpet is original hardwood so it might be ok. I don't know why I didn't even think about getting rid of the ceiling, I was going to replace it. Thanks for that!!

I keep seeing beautiful painted wood floors in the magazines! You too could paint your floor!

A painted floor is a terrific idea, especially for shabby chic where chipping and wear and tear are appreciated.

When you look at the room you think this will be tough. But most of this stuff will be discarded. The drop ceiling, the shades and the vertical blind have to go. That paneled room divider needs to be painted and window covering at the top must go. I just hope the orginal ceiling is not in bad shape. The bookcase I would add beadboard to the back of the shelves and paint and a toe-kick for the bottom and paint the floor and you are done. Alot of painting and remove the rug.
