Beautiful, Ingrid. Your RJG looks sumptuous! I love the Aunt Margy's Rose photos. Mine is still tiny, but yours gives me hope. My Maggie is starting bloom here. It seems a little slow to take off here. My SdlM is looking better now but always looks terrible in early Spring here. I think it is a bit too cold for them but they hopefully could improve as they get older. I always wonder if your evergreens are Hollywood Junipers. Mine never look as happy as yours. I love Madame Lambard.

Thank you, Sheila. You're not the only one whose Maggie is slow. I even took off all the buds until just lately to help it to grow but it's still pretty much three sticks with some leaves on them. Partly my fault, since I don't fertilize, but hopefully it will have a growth spurt soon. I'm afraid I don't know the name of my junipers, which were planted at least ten years ago. Your garden is so gorgeous, and getting more so every year, that a few plants that may like my hot and dry climate shouldn't be an issue. It may take longer for you to grow those plants, or they may never do as well, but look at the many amazing roses you've grown in such a short time.

My Maggie has been blooming a lot. It has not grown much either. I have not ferterlizer it but waiting to do so soon. Mine is in full sun.

I love the scent of Maggie. I have seen at least 3 of them growing so, so huge at Dr Malcolm's place.. Southern College. They are beautiful and smells so strong.

Mdm Lambard looks beautiful that is growing on me...lol.

Beautiful, Ingrid! Aunt Margy’s rose is so charming. She looks much more “full” than when I saw her. Your RJG is very beautiful. Is the secret garden located near where Cecil dug up ‘Wild Edric’? BTW, I know I just recently mentioned that my ‘Wild Edric’ wasn’t doing much. It appears that I’m a liar as well. I checked him out yesterday, and I was astonished. WE is fully clothed and has a few buds! I’m so excited! Lisa

Ingrid, how is the growth on RJG ? Does it needs support or anything ? I realized how tall it is esp in 5th pic leaning against the wall. Looks so great how it reaches upwards. I love how it grows and spread out :)

I would love to see your Maggie too . Mine is like a spider in ground with arms so short spread all over. Did I say spider, well, I think it is more like octopus..too many arms that is so short and a true hugger to soil / ground more like it...lol

Aunt Margy's rose looks beautiful growing up against the wall. I like the pink swirls of color in Mme Lambard, very nice pics from both angles!

Marlorena, you're right, Maggie is red. I thought it would be more of a cerise color, but in my alkaline soil you never know. Lisa, you were here quite early in the year, before Aunt Margy's Rose had put out new leaves and blooms. Yes, that is the secret garden where you got your Wild Edric. I'm thrilled that it's growing and has leaves and buds for you! It always takes a little time for a transplanted rose to recover. Jin, my Maggie is completely upright, so I'm surprised that yours is growing horizontally. RJG is upright for me. I think you may be confusing it with Aunt Margy's Rose, which does hug the wall. Only the first picture is of RJG. Krista, I actually have two plants of Mme. Lambard. The first is near the house, on flat ground, and the second is in Tea Rose Row, which has an abrupt dropoff on one side. If I remember correctly, the one in Tea Rose Row is the younger of the two and seems quite happy.

My Maggie is starting bloom, but no new growth yet. A bit blah at age 2.

Ingrid all of your roses are beautiful! I especially love Aunt Margys rose and Maggie. My Maggie is one year in the ground and so far has not put on a lot of growth but has been blooming like crazy. I’m really liking her so far and I love her fragrance.

Sheila, I wonder whether AMR may be a better rose in a sunnier climate. I know that mine took off and bloomed rather quickly, and I'm surmising that your climate (and perhaps your soil) may be a factor. However, I hope that the rose pulls up its socks this summer when it's warm and drier. Fingers crossed for you.

boncrow, I wonder if you are sacrificing growth by not taking off the buds, difficult as that is to do. However, this may just be one of the slower-growing roses or we may not have the optimal circumstances for it. It seems to be a rose worth waiting for.

Carol, thank you, I'm glad you like my now more mature RJG. It's amazing how the blooms can change from one year to the next in a rose that isn't fully mature.

Lisa, I hope that one pretty bloom will be one of many more to come. I know this rose will be much happier with your conditions. Oh gosh, little Millie is so precious. Has she grown a little more, do you think? I hope she's doing all right. I worry about her long-term state of health. I'm glad Sebastian has his friend back for now.

Ingrid, I think my AMR is looking OK. My Maggie is not hitting any high notes here. I am wondering about that. This Bourbon might not love it here. SdlM does well as it gets hotter, but stays small. I got my AMR from Burling and it is still small but I think it likes it here. Of course, time will tell. It is nothing like your beauty of course.

I always love seeing Ingrid's pictures of Aunt Margy. Does anyone have any information about where it came from?

It's sometimes hard to imagine the scale of things without a reference. I think this one is supposed to be small--at least have small flowers--but in the pictures it looks like it's on the scale of Reine des Violettes. Great photos! :-)

Strangely enough, considering how beautiful it is, the hybridizer of Aunt Margy's Rose chose to remain anonymous. Such false modesty! I just went out and measured its blooms and they range from 2 to 2.5 inches. Far from RdV but really beautiful in its own way.
