Looks to be some kind of stink bug. But the second photo's long abdomen is a stumper.

Look at photos on the net of Cicadas...does it look like a young one to you?

The up-turned back(?) end is unlike a cicada, as far as I know...and it's a very small bug. Never seen one like this before. It has been hanging around the mango trees for a while. Possible that it hitched a ride on the mango tree I got last week!

Garden web has some insect forum and an integrated pest forum. They would know...maybe!

Not a stink bug. Possibly a grasshopper nymph in an odd posture, especially with those long hind legs. If encountered again, see if it will jump when disturbed.

It does look a bit like a grasshopper, but that up turned abdomen just doesn't seem to fit with it. Grasshoppers will either chew, or move on to where they will find something to chew. So if there's no apparent leaf damage I'd suspect a Leaf Hopper. There are many thousands of species of them and generally they're sap suckers. You don't see mechanical damage on the plant but once they get established they start to "drain" it. I've never seen a Leaf Hopper which looks like that, but they are a not too distant relative of Cicadas, and there's a bit of that shape in the head. Anyway, that's the basis of my guess.

Logician, it did appear to jump when disturbed, though I can't say for sure as it moved very fast.

It seemed to be hanging out on the mango specifically, first seen on one tree and then later, the other, over the course of several days.
