I am seeing this on three forums: Appliances, Kitchens and Building a Home. I know we don't all see the same format.

I am buying sub-zero, so my opinions is probably a bit biased! I am going with integrated columns, so less options for those models.

Have you looked at both of them in person? Spent some time opening drawers, looking at the controls, lighting, shelf adjustments, etc. What was your impression? Your gut feeling?

Sub Zero

I have a 20 year old GE Profile (not sure that is the same thing / changed name) and I am happy with it.

In new house I am getting a sub zero all fridge and all freezer. In the past, I have been told that appraisers only "count" sub zero appliances and nothing else. (which is stupid, but possible)

I don't have SZ or GE. I have Miele. However, I fail to see how these two brands are comparable as well.

Subzero 48” built-in because it’s the one by which all others are judged. (And because I have one that’s 18 years old!)

We have had a GE built in for the past 12 years. I would NEVER buy one again. The previous generation Monogram was built by a commercial refrigeration company. We had one of those in our previous home and it was fabulous, but the current one is built by GE and is nowhere near the same fridge. We have had service calls for cooling issues every 18 months or less since we moved in, inverters, control boards, bad water dispensers.

Every time I open the fridge a look at the temperature readouts hoping it is still cooling. Yes, it's that bad. It has easily cost us more than the price difference to a Sub Z, but the latter was not an option with our builder.

Go Sub Zero.

definitely Subzero. over the long haul, the cost difference is trivial
