New Washer SQ vs. Maytag?

Looking for a new washer. Just found out our 6 year old Maytag 201 FL has crapped out. Some reservations with the repair tech's diagnosis? Computer is not sending signal to drain while in operation, motor will not spin drum with load in.

I am done with FL, cant seem to get more than 6 years out of them. Same local appliance store has sold me two (Frigidare & Maytag) and I am not happy with them at all. I am also more inclined for mechanical vs computer now too?

Thank you for all the topics here on houzz.

Question?

Have read the concerns on the 2018 SQ and saw mention of Maytag MVWP575GW. With that in mind, can a model please be recommended? I understand the 2017 SQ is more desirable, but obviously inventory may not be available. Time is short, my wife went to the laundry mat last week and we need to get her some relief?

Thank you!

I would look online at Lowe's at these:

MVWB765FW Maytag 4.7cu.ft tub with agitator

    MVWB865GW Maytag 5.2 cu.ft tub with agitator

WA40J3000AW Samsung 4.0 cu.ft tub with wash impeller.

The reason I included the Samsung is because it is a plain model but has computer just like the Maytag and all of them now days. But the Samsung has a load size selection so you choose how much water you want and if you use extra large it is to the top. I have a friend that has this machine for the past 5-6 years with no problems at all. That doesn't mean they are all that way as you know.

Go online and look. They are all currently on sale, plus check out you tube and you can see the Maytag and Samsung operating. Kirk Rivas post them. Hope this helps. I'm partial to Maytag but like that you choose water level on Samsung.

George, who makes them since there isn't a Maytag company anymore that I know of.

Believe it or not they (Whirlpool) didn't touch the commercial lines that actually make equipment for laundromats.

    It's actually still Maytag.

Thank you for the suggestions and help. I am leery of anything Whirlpool now. The Maytag was a serious consideration, but no more computer stuff either if we can avoid it.

It was a struggle, but we decided to go with the SQ TR3001WN. No need for fanciness. We need practical and dependable. My wife actually liked the fact that clothes would not get beat to death. So we will check back in once some loads are done. Thanks again!

All current (2018) SQ models have computer boards. The two models with rotary dials *are* computer-stuff.

I need help. I have to buy new washer. I have Maytag top loader now, model MVWC565FW. It's garbage. Swishes the water in the tub. Takes forever to wash a load of clothes. I am intrigued by the Maytag commercial machine, 575GW. Old school agitator, 5-year warranty. But, it's not going to be "gentle" on clothes and will use a lot of water. Speed Queen's 2018 machines swish the water in the tub. They really screwed the pooch on the redesign IMO. I was going to get 2017 Speed Queen top loader but procrastinated and didn't do it. I would have been set. Mainstream top loaders do not clean the clothes and wash plate machines are very hard on the clothes. Dealer is picking up my current Maytag on Wednesday. I have to find a machine to replace it. Was thinking about LG front loading machine but really do not have room for it and don't want to deal with mold and mildew issues. Input is very much appreciated.

P.S. Last night, I was reading a thread where someone posted that they were buying a Speed Queen or Maytag commercial machine from "large retailer" with 30-day return policy. Now, I cannot find that thread and Lowe's does not sell Speed Queen or the Maytag Commercial machine that I know of.

Call around to independent SQ dealers until you find one with 2017 stock. My friend got hers 2 months ago. The dealer didn't advertise it but they had stocked up before the change-over. Or check Craigslist.

Will do. Thanks. I know that 2 of our local dealers have no 2017s left.

What are the model numbers for the 2017 SQ?

This is one of them: AWNE92SP311TW

I bought a Maytag commercial washer one year ago. It was great for six months then started to make a grinding noise at the end of the wash cycle water draining. Five months later and five techs later they replaced a split handed, actuator, and belt. Worked fine for four days. Today on the fifth day the machine screeched during agitation and clangs and grinds during end of final spin. I am besides myself this washer cost almost one thousand dollars with tax and delivery. This is the third machine I have had to buy in six years. Two others were Ge and each one only lasted three years. I have no faith that the manufacturer or the technicians they send can the knowledge to fix this machine som ow I’m out all that money again. we Can send men to space but we can’t fix a washing machine in this country. I think it’s time that our legislators start to take a look at this industry because the appliance industry is ripping us off big time.

    What is a "split handed?"

I could only find a shift actuator on YouTube.
