Should I paint stained oak to brighten room?

We recently built a house. My husband thought dark stained oak would look nice in our room. While it does look nice, it's so dark. Our room doesn't get much natural light because of a covered patio and not a lot of window. We actually put windows above our bed to get light from windows in the rooms behind it (closet and bathroom). What would you do?

Paint all trim white and leave door and inside of the window dark oak

Leave it the way it is

I would suggest painting it white as it opens you up to more wall colors. I have always found wood trim to be too dark. I like the crisp pop of white trim.

I don't think changing the color of the trim is going to brighten your home much. Have you considered solar tubes or skylights?

That's tough. I'd add more lamps (I only see one) and a larger light rug to brighten the floor.

Yes, if possible, i would paint all the trim white (the windows above bed paint same color as walls). Might help a bit. Also get white bedding and a light colored rug. More lighting would help also. Is it just this one room that is stained dark, or the whole home.
