With all the well know and reputable brands of quartz, all widely available, with all the thousand gray tones, silver tones, concrete tones.............why?

I wish I could find a dark grey with warm undertones from another fabricator. The pewter is just a perfect color and pattern. It isn’t too busy, but still has enough pattern that every little thing won’t show. Kind of a zinc like pattern. Caesar stone has something similar, but it has green undertones that I just don’t like. I am testing out the honed sleek concrete from Caesar stone. I like the color okay, but am not sure about the finish. I have looked at everything I can find. I swear I’m trying to move on.

Silestone has scads of Gray choices. Stay away from cheap knockoffs.

Move on............... really. And I would stay away from honed quartz from anyone. Frankly? If you want a powdery finish, and organic feel? Go look at Soapstone. Higher end, indestructible and an "honest " surface you can't kill and completely anti microbial. It's a rock, literally. As below.....it comes in grayed tones. Hearth and kitchen same material.

Jan, that soapstone is beautiful! I’ll certainly look into it. The phrase “higher end” sounds frighteningly expensive.

I have been trying to stain my honed quartz sample. I haven’t been able to yet. Anything in particular I should be concerned about with it?

I continue to challenge the Chinese quartz-knockers to substantiate their position. Other than crying it's non-Breton, they have nothing.

I also am curious to hear some actual first person experiences.

It has to be more than chipping and staining anecdotes. I'm saying something like a fabricator who does 400-unit hotels who has had repeatedly bad experiences with the Chinese products compared to when he uses Breton. Not just one job either.
