That house is not my taste at all, but I wouldn't paint the door a lighter shade of blue. And I would keep the white trim around the door whatever color you decide.

I live in NY so very cold winters. I probably could go without the storm door. I wish I had the money for a full panel front door. Hopefully next year.
I am not changing the white door trim. Only considering the black around the storm door.

Orangey color would go nicely with the cedar. I don't think your house needs much more "pop"

Wish I could do that navy and wood combo but it gets so dang hot here. I grew up in NY, when I retire in New England I'll have a navy blue house.

That citrus/bright greenish yellow color from the plant in the front left of your door would be perfect as mentioned by a couple of others above. It is always so effective to pull the color from your landscaping to tie in with your house. You have a great home. Can't wait to see the new pic of the painted front door.

Leave the wood chair. If you want to make a change down the road, change out your front door for one without that Victorian style oval. Your house is looking sharp :)

I would paint the chair black. Colorful coleus plants in your black pot would look great. You nailed the color for front door. Your oval door is not best style for the rest of your home. So replace that with different style at some point. You could get the glass portion replaced with more appropriate glass such as frosted or rain glass.

Yeah, I was looking at doors today. I had Carpel Tunnel surgery last week so won't be able to hang a door for a while.

Sure. The porch is 10x10. I use to have a small vestibule that I knocked down and built the cement patio and the Overhang

The actual paint is PPG Knights Armour 2x. So the formula was doubled to make it a shade darker.
It's the 3rd time I painted my Vinyl siding using color safe paint.

Save thousands painting siding. There are no pores in vinyl do the paint glides on.
You need to purchase the house with soap and a pressure washer. BM had a real good vinyl safe paint put allot of them are now.

Anna, on anything metal you have to use a good primer first. If your house is Vinyl it's a good chance the windows were wrapped in aluminum and need to be primed.
I was quoted 16k on new siding. it cost be less than 500 for paint.lol

Love it! Looks very charming and inviting! I have one more questions for you Dave, about painting vinyl siding. I am very intrigued, but nervous about doing it. We live in Atlantic Canada, on the coast, so would have similar winter temperatures to yours, but we get a lot of salt air which corrodes practically everything. How often do you have to repaint your siding? Do you find contracting/expanding of the siding from seasonal temperature changes has a negative affect on the paint?

Each time I've painted my siding had been for looks. It has been maintenance free. No peeling, warping it bending. The product has been around for a long time but the colors were limited. They use to have problems with darker colors but have solved that dilemma. Now product is available in any color you desire. My house gets hit hard with sun in the summer and you already know the Upstate NY winters.
Go for it. Best kept secret out there

You have been busy! Take care of that hand. The front entry looks great. It would be fun to find a pillow with that green but patterned with other colors.

We're going to be doing some exterior work and I can't wait. It makes such a difference--good job and enjoy.

Once again, I really like the clear coated wood against the siding. Looks very sharp. Don't know about those pots though...what do you plan to put in them? Also, they will dry out FAST.

They are quite small. Have you planted in terra-cotta pots before? Terra-cotta pots dry out very quickly and the smaller ones even more so. Just keep that in mind.

No. Just the inside of the door where the hinges are and the other side where the door strike is

I misunderstood the question. I paint the sides of the door the exterior color, the inside of the door facing your interior you match to your existing interior colors
