I love the house the way it is....it is probably surrounded by similar designs and fits in quite nicely....but the advice on lush plantings could not hurt either.

From the picture, it appears you have mulched beds but not much in them. I agree some landscaping would definitely change your perception about the facade.

His answer won't be a cottage garden meant for a small structure. That will simply make it loom as more McMansion. Call a PRO

I see no nasty comments. I think removing the grids from the windows would help and landscaping for sure

I read all of y’all posts and love some of the current long threads from home owners (ninday, pinkpeony, Cheryl h,cpartist) and their advising pros (Beth, Jan, John, Porter, Patricia, boxerpal, and yes Sophie). I never post because I’m not a pro and don’t have a lot of experience, I just truly love design. I saw the mean comment; I looked through the poster’s other posts and it seemed to be a theme. Not a pro. Not constructive. Just lots of negativity. I hope that person finds some happiness.

Wow, gorgeous home! I would too plant a few evergreen trees (like the one's flanking the outer edges of your photos). Have a pro landscaper pick the right species of tree (the one's there now are so barren although they might be spectacular during a certain season)...

I would remove the window grids which will make it less 'busy'; paint the body a darker color with darker trim to make it appear smaller - think 'little black dress'; and plant a tall tree at the inside corner (right) of the protruding part of the house. (Although evergreens are tall and beautiful, they do make a mess eventually due to their fir or pine cones. They also change the acidity of the soil so eventually it's hard to grow anything under them. Oh yes, and they can drip sap. Ask me how I know. :)
