Don't buy anything or do anything until you get the rug figured out. I think since you are already questioning the rugs you posted that we should look for others. When you see it, you'll know it. Better to take your time than rush into it and then be sorry that you did.

I looked in your idea books and just want you to think about this. All of the photos you have posted none of them have furniture like yours. You have a lot of floor space and if you cover it with a white/cream rug, then you have a white bedspread and both of them laying flat it isn't giving much visual interest. Put a white sheet down on the floor and use it to imagine it as a rug. And where are the gold accessories going? I don't see any areas that allow for gold to be carried throughout to make much impact. Let's look to see if we can find some inspiration photos with furniture like yours 1st to see if all this white/cream is really something you will be happy with. OK?

You could do either color. Is there anything stopping you from using both colors white and cream?. Tone on tone whites look lovely together.

The one problem I see is that the inspiration photos tend to show upholstered cream colored beds. Are you wanting / can you afford to replace your bed? If not , then would you want to give it a facelight without painting it?...........

SLIPCOVER PILLOWCASE Place a thin board (piece of lattice) AC,Ross the top of the two posts. Hot glue it in place. Wrap it with upholstery foam and make a giant pillow case slipcover to cover it. I've been thinking about your big blank wall and am wondering if you would have room for a painted armoire. I only had a minute to look and this isn't exact what I'm thinking but along these lines. as far as a finish. If you are some what handy, you probably could find one on Craigslist and then paint it. It would become a statement piece, give you color and bring in that farmhouse look.

Find the curtains and rugs 1st and get those into the room before looking for and purchasing a painting for above the bed . I'm thinking that once you have the curtains up you may find you don't need one.

I'm thinking more about the big wall. If it isn't too heavy to move, could you put it over there but center it between the right edge of the window to the end of the wall and then post a photo of it. And then move it so that it is more centered with the ceiling peak. And post a photo. If it was a longer dresser it could be more off center but being short, it might be an issue.

Rug size is totally how much of the flooring you want to cover. DK Haas gave you good visuals as to laying a rug.

The room looks bigger without the footboard. Tell DH I think your TV should be bigger & mounted on the wall. Can you see it adequately from the bed, as it looks small? Can you add a chair, floor plant, tiny table to the room, like :

I'm glad that Holly added that art as it verified to me that I think I like the dresser back in it's original spot. Though if you haven't moved it back yet, you could move it so it is off center and see how it feels. I'm a big believer with going with your gut feeling.

If you put it back in it's original spot (thank you for trying), then would there be room at the end of the bed for a bench? If there is, I'm thinking between having a bench and the curtains that you just ignore that wall.

If you want me to sketch any rugs that you are finding, give me the links to them and I can do that for you. When you are looking at rugs, take into consideration how the bed will be centered over it ( or not centered) and how does it affect the pattern that will show. Does that make sense?

Regarding the footboard. With it on, I think it makes more of a statement for the bed, without the headboard becomes less of a statement. I think it will come down to how you feel once everything is in the room. Having it off or on at this point, it doesn't matter either way.

Tracy, several folks here have suggested you change the furniture in one way or another- buy new, paint, slipcover.... It may be frustrating to hear such suggestions. Some pros want you to make a purchase through them. Others just want to help you create the look of your inspiration photo. The main reason behind all of the suggestions is that the all-one-set-look looks like a boring catalog. A collected look is more relaxing, less IN YOUR FACE MATCHING and looks unique like an interior designer curated it. There is nothing wrong with rustic wood furniture. You have a very lovely set. So, pick your poison... Paint, buy new, or slipcover for an upholstered bed look. Although it takes a few hours, a slipcover is requires less money & time. It's virtually painless, unless you have arthritic hands. Do break up the set in some way, if at all possible.... A non-matching mirror over the dresser,perhaps?
