Monday we have a Kohler rep coming tomorrow to give us a bid on their enclosures, I contacted them on the web Saturday and they were on it immediately emails,phone calls galore. The wife is resigned to the process, we will do it together. I am sure I will be seeing showers popping up on my screen long past any installation date. Thanks for all the advice, I think the entire area needs to be gutted [like everybody else said] just to make sure, The idea of just covering it all up, was just wishful thinking.

My late mother had Bath Fitter redo the upstairs bathroom in her home. What a piece of crap! Water has seeped under the tub and the acrylic walls of the shower are impossible to clean. It is a disaster and we will need to rip it out! STAY AWAY from Bath Fitter...it is garbage.

I’ve tried to deal thru the Northbrook location. I’ve been more than patient but it’s been leaking for years with no solution. I’ve dealt with Steve Mgr and now with Lou and don’t get a return call so now I’ll try corporate!! How can no one care and fix this lifetime guarantee?? I’m disgusted and at a loss For the proper words in my disappointment in this company!!

I do not know how to clean between the shower doors where they overlap. There is soap scum there.

Remove the doors temporally to access that spot.

If they are like normal sliders you lift them up and out, some things are not easy but doable all the same.

YES I used Bathfitters maybe 20 years ago in a new condominium. It’s leaking minorly. I called them and after several visits they claim it’s not theirs!!! I swear it is. I just need to find the energy to look thru my papers and find it!! I’m getting older and have MS so it’s not easy but I will!!

Our shower was just put in and we are happy with it. The installer was very professional.

We used Bath Fitter to convert a bathtub we never used to an oversized shower about 3 years ago. It came out beautiful and we love the extra space it provided. They were much less expensive than West Shore Homes Inc and Luxury Bath who we also got a quote from. Fortunately, we have had an excellent experience with Bath Fitter.

On Jul 10th, we had a sales rep come see us, gave us a quote, and we signed a contract for a shower stall refit. She took measurements, and told us we could expect a tech to begin the installation in 2-3 weeks.,

On Aug 3rd the tech came and ripped out the old shower stall. Only then did he realize that they had ordered the wrong size shower base. He told us that it would take about three weeks to get the correct size from the factory in Canada. So no shower available to use.

On Sept 2nd, the tech returned with the correct base, and installed the base and surround. He told us it would take about two weeks to get the glass in to finish the installation. So still, no shower. On Sept 23rd, we were called and were told the glass was in, but could not get an appointment to have it installed until 10 days later.. So, another month went by.

On Oct 2nd, the tech returned and finished the installation of the glass.

Therefore, we were without use of this shower for a total of 8 weeks. I contacted the dealership and requested a discount equivalent to 15% of the total price as compensation for out inconvenience and loss of use, The owner/ manager flatly refused and only offered us a discount that equaled 7% of the total price. I considered this an insult. I. attempted to contact the corporate headquarters a total of 4 times. No one would respond to my emails, or talk to me on the phone. No one would return messages left.

The product we got is satisfactory, and the tech did a great job of installation. However, I would recommend you using a different dealership than the Clearwater, Fl one if you want a timely job done. And I was very disappointed with the Customer suppport from this company.

We just had ours installed yesterday. We went with bathfitters because it's the basement bathroom and we plan to sell this house again in 5-10 years. We are also in Canada and regular bathroom reno companies were telling us we would be waiting months to get a date because they were so backed up. The house is only 30 years old and there werent any major issues with the bath except for old caulking and ugliness.

I've never been more dissatisfied with spending the money and being terrified to take a shower. The floor is like standing on ice, very very slippery. The shower cord is already rusting along with one of the safety bars.

Early February sales lady came to give us a quote. Two months later they did the install and the tub didn’t fit. Ordered another tub and four weeks later they came but it didn’t fit either. Sales lady double checked and said error was in the factory. Said new (3rd one) will take three weeks to arrive and install. It’s now been six weeks and nothing yet. From the date of our deposit to now has been 18 weeks and still no tub. They did install the tub surround on the first visit. I asked the second installer (2nd visit)why the first installer didn’t check it, he simply said the original installer was just lazy. If anything goes sideways they appear to be very polite but completely incompetent. I guess they just don’t need the remaining $4500.

I had Bathfitter do work on my bathroom. I was very satisfied with the work , so much so I recommended them to my son. I was supposed to get a $100.00 gift card for the referral. If he had the work done. Well, he did have it done and between us we spent almost $12,000.00; Never got the gift card for the referral as promised and when I called pretty much they blew me off, said they would get back to me , never did and never returned my calls. I thought that was a pretty lousy way to do business.

Yes thats unfortunate, you were happy after your install. Apparently 100 dollars was too much for them to leave you and your son happy customers.

You know, I've seen these "one or two day" retrofits many times. They seem to focus on the elderly. I don't like them.

I have been doing tile since 1983 and a properly built and waterproofed shower can certainly run over $3000....but, guess what? I have seen total bathroom renovations go in excess of 20-30 thousand dollars! Look, you "pays your money and you takes your chances."

I would certainly recommend a tile professional that gives you a totally waterproof unit....and guarantees it! Why would you use some hack to put up some kind of plastic and throw tile at it? You want a properly built mud base and properly built walls, over studs that have TCNA approved waterproofing installed. Done the right way...it will last forever. I personally like the Schluter Kerdi systems and guarantee them for life. What more do you want?

You aren't getting that tile job in a day.

Watch for hidden agenda’s such as tilepro30, a tile salesman who is uninformed about what Bath Fitter is. No plastic, it non-porus commercial acrylic, you talk about mildew and mold, tile grout is the worst, it’s very high maintainance vs. a seamless, water proof wall that will keep it’s original luster for decades, is way easier to maintain and is guaranteed for life. Personally, as a mid to high end designer, I think their a great value.

No hidden agenda. Not a salesman. The purpose of sitting in on the presentation was to get informed about the product / cost and installation method. Yes I did use the word plastic instead of acrylic. My error. Unless the product has improved over the past few years since this thread I'll stand with my impression of value. I often suggest alternative products that I do not provide to homeowners if it gives them substantial savings. This is not one of them.

Joseph, I KNOW you aren't getting a tile shower on one day...that's why it is more costly than the "pre fab" systems that, I suppose can be done in one day...

I didnt get a tile shower it was a r ed regular bathfitter I dont think they do tile they didnt leave my window or replaced the out side of the house back they just left a bigg exposed hole in side of

I only just came across this post and want to add that I won’t buy a home, freehold or condo, that has Bathfitter installed because I don’t know what mess is behind the acrylic. Bathfitter DO NOT require the homeowner to fix any known issues prior to them installing the acrylic so there could be major expense down the road.

We had Bath Fitter do our tub 22 yrs. ago and it looks as good as it did the day they first put it in our bathroom.

A properly built stone/ceramic tile shower/bath can last millennium- look at some of the ancient Roman baths still standing & not moldy. After 2000 years!!!! Bathfitter is garbage for the impoverished. It's a sad testament to how poor the state of the economic system we have. No one should be so poor they have to resort to bathfitter. The wealth distribution that created this MUST GO!!!!!

There is a Kohler acrylic one piece tub and surround in the 25 year old house we bought two years ago and in still looks brand new, so I can recommend that product.

@kandrewspa - The kind of one piece tub/shower enclosure is completely different than a bath fitter type of retro installation.

The bath fitter just places it over pre-existing old fixtures which might already have existing problems and it doesn't remediate any problems.

Your tub was presumably installed when the bathroom was being built and therefore would have no prexisting problems. I had an old in one type of enclosure in my condo before I remodeled that was the original installed in 1965 so over 50 years old. It was ugly and shabby - including the sliding glass door - but structurally it was fine and there wasn't mold behind the walls when it removed because it hadn't leaked in all those years.

Got liner and walls in 2005, was beautiful at frist, now its worn and you can’t clean it, they dont return my calls, suppose to be life warranty, so guess thats why they dont call me back, worn out where a person sits. so very disappointed, i was even willing to pay for a new liner. Had a guy come in to remove it and install a new tub and he looked at the tub and said they should replace it, its worn out, tells me it would cost a few thousand to remove it so now i have no where to turn

FYI, not all bath fitter installations cover up old fixtures. Both my and my parents' replacement included a full removal of the old tub. Now, what I am unhappy with:

1. The floor is dangerously slippery. I do not want to have a mat, because they are impossible to keep clean. I was concerned about this from the beginning, but my sales guy assured me no one he sold to ever had issues with it being slippery, they sell a non-slip coating that is like sand paper, but he said he's never had anyone get it (maybe because it's too gritty and not because their floors aren't slippery, as he implied). He said that grip tape usually has an adhesive material that is not compatible with the acrylic of the tub. So I'm basically screwed? Both my and my parents' old tubs were not slippery at all. Definitely a downgrade.

2. They only have 16" and L-shaped grab bars. I had to order my own longer grab bars in order to meet ADA requirements, and I am praying that they will do as promised and install them once they come in.

3. They did not caulk around the fixtures. My sales guy said it is unattractive to do so and everything is sealed inside. How do I know? I would prefer it if they just used clear silicone caulk around the fixtures, which wouldn't affect the aesthetics of the tub AND would provide visual assurance (and the ability to check for repairs needed) of being sealed. I guess I'll just do it myself...

The biggest annoyance that I cannot fix in a satisfactory way is the slipperiness of the floor. That alone would have been worth going with a different product. =( But all in all, if that's all that I'm unhappy with at the end of the day (once I fix other grievances), it will be ok. I don't really understand people saying it's hard to clean though, because I thought it would be way easier to keep clean than grout with tile... 🤔

I bought my co-op apartment 3 years ago and the previous owner had a bath-fitter tub and shelves installed before they moved out. It looked great at first but for the past couple of months black mold has been growing underneath the acyrilc sealant (their version of grout). It is incredibly difficult to remove as the mold is imbedded underneath. The website suggests using bleach to clean the tub, but that doesn't resolve the issue of water seaping between the sealant creating the perfect storm for mold growth. The bath tub is also squishy in certain parts when you walk over it. I woudn't reccomend getting this done. The previous owners paid for a quick fix and I'm now dealing with this lipstick on the pig.

Dig it out with a credit card, decontaminate, and recaulk.

Do not recommend Bathfitters. They require a huge payment upfront. They will not refund under any circumstances. They cancelled my install and couldn't reschedule for three week later. I couldn't wait that long as I had a tenant moving in. I requested my $1125 back to have someone else do the work. They would not return a penny and they did no work on my hope. Thieves
