If you are really in love with the cream (I can see why you are) then simply repaint the trim the color of the cabinet facing minus the Amaretto :)

I thought about that! The problem is that the trim in the kitchen flows to other rooms in the house, which we just had painted! My husband won't let me change it so soon. ;) I have to leave the trim the color it is.

Neither would bother me....woodwork is a whole different thing than cabinets. I am not a matchy person. Love that you will be doing black on the island, too. Repainting the french doors would open a whole other can of worms.

Generally as a rule I would say that if the cabinets and trim look different enough that it looks intentional than you are fine. If it looks like you tried to match them but missed, then one of them should change so that they either match or there is some contrast between them. Remember that a floor can change from room to room... wood to carpet etc. So can the trim. You CAN have a different trim color in a room, especially a kitchen or bathroom because there are other design elements that effect the trim in those rooms.

I wouldn't let the white trim stand in your way too much. Your cabinets are a huge investment so choose the one that you LOVE.

I don't see any problem with cream cabinets and white trim. Like Amy said they are 2 different things. Go for the cabinets you like!

I had a similar dilemma with my new house. The windows are all almond but I didn't want almond trim. I am using a white that's not quite white (Westhighland White SW) and it looks great. I think that your cabinets are a totally separate thing from your trim. I have realized through this building process that you can get so focused on one thing that it's hard to see it clearly:). No one will ever walk in you kitchen and say "oh, how beautiful this could have been if only the trim were cream" :). Beautiful room!

I have the same dilemma. I did end up painting the door that exited into the laundry room because it stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the cabinetry as it was. I still grapple with it, but it is too expensive to paint all the trim in the house to coordinate. I also like white everywhere else because it is cheerful and clean looking. I would love to hear any comments about it! I posted after pics and a before picture at the end of this post.
