I would not do a ottoman...I love a hard surface with no fussing around with a tray..a glass and metal coffee table would look beautiful and you can go pretty big because it will look light and open with glass...add a couple small square cube ottomans on other side of coffee table that can be moved around for extra seating or brought over to sofa to prop up feet...

IMO it's better to have a table you can put your feet on than an ottoman that requires a tray in order to set down a drink. Here are some options.

I love the idea of the two rounds ones. Different, breaks up the space, adds some glimmer and detail to make you room more interesting. Your sofa has arms with some traditional flare so it ties them together plus you have a big round floor lamp shade. Getting tired of seeing a big box of an ottoman in front of a sofa. Just not crazy about legs on your ottomans. Not high-end looking.

Thanks for the replies. I guess an ottoman doesn't seem to be a popular choice, but I'm set on something with a plush top. I've had ottomans with my sofas for years, it's the most comfortable and functional for me. I particularly despise glass topped tables.

I've got an end table now, here's what it looks like. I bought it off a friend who was moving, so it kinda fell in my lap, but I like it.

I also decided on a dining table. It will be a counter height chrome and greyish wood table, since I already have counter stools in chrome and white from my previous place. This place is somewhat temporary as well, so I don't want to invest in too much or too expensive furniture. It will look pretty much like this:

So that means I'd like to stick to a more modern ottoman, and I still think it would look a bit better raised off the floor - so then it's called a bench? This sofa is really large for a condo, so putting anything of an appropriate length in front of it could look way too heavy for the space. My front runner is this one, the Annloraine bench from Wayfair.

My only worry is that it's 18" high, same height as the sofa, so I'm not sure about comfort. I have a few other choices but none that I'm totally happy with. I've scoured local chain stores and one furniture store with no luck so far, so I might just give this one a try from Wayfair and go from there.

My other runner ups are these

The first one is also quite high and not my favourite design. The second one would be ok, but I worry about how it will look with a sofa also in a different type of grey upholstery. The third one seems to be a more taupey grey according to one of the the reviews. I would be open to colours, but none of the ones available.

The two round ottomans I kind of discounted, again because of the mismatch of two different grey upholstery. Again, I don't like any of the other colours. Also I think it would be kinda small for feet and tray and whatnot, so it may not be as functional for me.

So that's my update. I really like the look of the Annloraine, so I think I'll order it and hope it works out. Then I'll think about a rug maybe and some colour in the cushions for sure.

I would be tempted to do something like the Ravella Ottoman from Room and Board. It comes in a few different sizes. The square might be nice because it could serve as some additional seating. Hard to say if it will work though since I’m not sure what the wall opposite the couch looks like and how much room you have. Here are the different sizes:

Here's a shot showing the opposite wall with the TV unit (I repurposed this, it was part of a sideboard at my old place. I'm just not looking to spend any more than I need to on furniture for this place). The ottoman there right now is 20" wide. I don't think a large square one would work in the space.

Here are two thin but long coffee tables, one of which is like an ottoman, that you might be interested in looking at.

The bench looks nice...I would return the dining table the style of it ..if like the image posted is to modern..your style is more contemporary/mid century modern..find something you love!

What is the height of the bench?

The description of the bench says 18" high, but I think it's more like 17.5. Hard to measure accurately because of the tufting.

Regarding the table, it must be counter height so I can use my existing stools. They're padded white leather-look, just like in the picture I posted above. The table is 36 x 36 x36, which would be the perfect size, and I liked the chrome legs. But the "wood" top looks really cheap.

I don't think I like a round table with these stools. I also don't like glass tables much. Any other recommendations for a small square counter height table?

Because it is so inexpensive could you change out the top? Have a solid piece of wood cut from local Home Depot or Lowe’s and stain it yourself.

That's a good idea, but I'm just not up for it and I'm not very handy. I'd rather keep it as is, if I can't find anything else. Maybe it's not as bad as I think. It has great reviews, so other people seem to like it. Unfortunately I more agree with the reviewer who said it looks like a wood-patterned duct tape covering. :-p
