Carolina is right, start with a rug first to add a little more interest tot he space. If you get that in and still feel it is too bare then think about a large pice of contemporary art. Adding something tot eh wall is not wrong, but it definitely doesnt need it. Very cool space though!

The finishes look great and I love how everything works together. If you want to add color and life to the space without taking away from the paneled wall a grouping (grouping I do not mean just three) of wall planters with succulents would be a great touch. They would add color and texture to your contemporary/ transitional space. I agree with the other two post a rug would be great... maybe a sisal so it is easy to maintain but also adds texture to the organic space. Good luck!

I also think the wall is great. When you entertain at night I would think that the lighting patters on the wood should create a gorgeous effect and art would ruin that. I am not a lover of rugs in dining rooms unless you can easily move the chairs and I think it would have to hug the back wall. I would like to see you bring the wood down to the table but it needs to be mixed with your metal or a golden brown natural fiber table runner to bring a little more of the color and "nature" feel down to the table

Keep the table top very simple do not clutter. This is a very tailored space by looking at the photos.

I love your wall. Your wall, chandelier and furniture have an industrial feel about them. Which is why I wouldn't suggest a rug. But you could certainly hang art on your wall. Why not?
I like the monochromatic look, so picked something black & white and industrial looking to show you something.
But of course you should choose something that you absolutely love ;-)

A pop of color would give it that added zing!

I don't think you need anything on the wall or floor. They are statements as they are. I would however move your table to sit dead centre under your pendant as it looks slightly off to one side at the moment. Perhaps you would like to consider a large metal tray on the table to bounce off lighting and house your existing table glassware. Food for thought.

I think the wall is beautiful, and completely understand the trepidation about now putting any holes in it.

I see where you are going with a minimalist look, and it is very nice. For me, it's SO close to working, because all the components of the room are so beautiful, but they seem to be standing on their own, and need just a bit to tie the space together.

I think you do need a rug to ground the design. The table and chairs are really cool, but they seem to get a bit lost on the light flooring.

If it were me, I would get a large abstract, hung horizontally. I don't think it would take away from the beauty of the wall, as a piece of art, I think it would actually showcase it by adding the contrast.

if you were to choose ART for the wall something colorful and abstract as shown in the inspiration pic would look fantastic!!

I was busy earlier, and don't know if I said it right, but I understand after building such a beautiful wall, it is kind of hard then to cover it right up, with something that would distract from IT being the work of art/

Every design, needs a focal point for the eye to rest, warm and cool colors, and repetition of a pattern or color so the eye moves easily around the room.

Decorators talk about rooms needing an "anchor", often referring to a rug under a dining table, etc.
If you look at your lovely dining set for a few seconds, (I love the navy), it really does almost appear to be floating on the floor that is very light in color.

It is sort of the same thing with your wall. The print I cut an pasted is a Picasso (not too bad!) with enough pattern and complimentary colors to draw your eye to the wall, and accentuate its beauty.

The example shown by Carolins, is really better. The print I used has too much white trim( maybe should be dark), and is not large enough. The wall and the art piece will be one gorgeous piece, so DON"T be shy and use something too small. as many people do. If your lighting obscures it, somewhat, it's okay. It's called layering.

Also, for a room to look interesting, it usually has to have a balance of warm and cool colors. Some rooms are monochromatic, and are carefully designed to be effective, but most rooms need cool colors to make the warm colors stand out, and vice versa.

On an artists color wheel, the color opposite will make the other stand out. Blue and orange are opposites. Do you see how the orange (rust) makes the beautiful blue just pop?

I like warm colors, so I paint my walls a cool color. If I have a print with oranges, reds and a gold frame, and hang it on a beige or gold wall, your eye passes right over the art. If it is hung on a grey blue wall, it just pops out, the way it should.

You obviously are really talented and have an eye for design. We all need a second eye sometimes.

Love it, as your chandelier is so striking, make more of it! Bring it down to sit more in the wall space.
It will look like art!! A rug would be OK but something which is not straight ie a skin to offset the very straight line effect I think might work.

Your style is called "industrial chic" and you have done a fabulous job of staying in that style with your furniture and light fixture. The style is a clean, clutter-free look, but requires layers of texture to be done well. Adding a low-pile rug under the table will add another layer of interest and give you the finished look you are wanting. Google "industrial chic rug" to find one that appeals to you.

If you don't have rugs because of allergies, or a member of the family with unsteady footing etc., there are floor covers called "floor mats", or floor "cloths" as they were called by the ladies who made them for their kitchens, as early as the 1900's

I'll look for an example, but you can often buy hand-made, one of a kind, possibly made to order. Artists take canvas and paint it, then put layers of clear coating. They lay very flat, and might be something you like.

I would recommend an orange or red-orange rug that has a really thick texture to it. But I do not know what other colors you have in your home. The wall is beautiful!

Really like the look you've achieved. I like Matt's suggestions for the white planters to bring in some of the light modern colors from the kitchen. Another idea along that line would be white modern centerpieces, perhaps vases for the table. The area in the living room above the television looks like a great place for some modern art.

Love your room. I agree with oursecond home, lower the light. If you add wall art, the light will obstruct the view of it and the wall art will detract from the clean lines of the light. The light and wood feature wall are the art. However, carolins climbing men are fantastic! Can you hang art elsewhere? Over the fire place? I don't think it needs a rug but as previously mentioned an interesting sculpture for the table. Also, I think the black of the light and table or other industrial chic need to be injected into the other spaces.

Have you thought about adding a rustic tray to the table, one that mimics the size of the chandler? would look nice to group your items on. I think any serious artwork on the wall would destroy the natural beauty of the wood, I really like Carolins 3d sculpture of the climbers.

You know, I happened to stop at your thread, and I think I get so used to looking at accessories, etc, that I now look at your space, and the other photos, and I don't think you really need anything. I had photoshopped a little image with a rug, and painting. I think it is the way you like your house, and it is a cool look.

However, I would lower the great lighting piece a bit. I can see that you didn't want it to block conversation, but maybe a little lower. Very interesting design wth the navy blue!

Carolins version of wall art was fab, with perfect look and placement! A nice sisal or jute rug that is simple could help tie your room together.. I think keep it simple as with the rest of your home. Loving all the tray ideas too.

I like the idea of adding a rug, FLOR tiles or some other modern, changeable option might be fun. The terrariums or bud vases look great. Try adding an interesting fresh floral bouquet and see the room instantly come alive :)

The chandelier is a bit too high. get some more chain and make the bottom about 40" off the table. That will bring things into proportions. The a simple jute rug would be good, natural and inexpensive. Then, I agree that it needs an painting there. Perfect space for a large piece or a diptych (two pieces)..
