Relax and let the job finish and enjoy your shower

I see what you're saying but once you have your fixtures in, it's going to be beautiful!

This is why every tile person should have any homeowner that wants marble sign a waiver. Every time there is always just these two parts that are different.

Marble is a natural stone there are variances and sometimes they show as a pattern. Installer did nothing wrong here. Other issue is they are just installed and when the water evaporates they will lighten up in color.

Marble is THE WORST choice for any wet area as they will always get wet and always show which parts are more saturated with water.

Unfortunately you even said it, the "sheets" have more predominatly gray area. Unless you were willing to pay him to remove the tiles from the sheet this is what you may end up with. That being said it is not noticable at all without your pointing it out to me and once the shower is complete will look fine. I also agree completely with wannabath in the material choices.

I noticed it right away, (it actually looks wet). For me, I’d replace now or it would bother me forever. Lol. But that’s just me... good luck. :).

are you going to have a hand held shower, with a bar and coil of hose? because that would completely cover that up anyway.

you would probably actually not like a couple light ones stuck smack dab in the middle of the grey patch anyway. 'random' is difficult to create. i'd leave it be. think of it as a statistical cluster.

Don't do anything for several months. Marble is funny like that. It may dry up and blend. Saw the same thing at our new mall floor.

Overthinking it, I think it looks great! Just like the stitching on a Bentley, its not a perfect line because its done by hand!

If you want, do it now before it's grouted. Beautiful tile job, btw!

It's MARBLE. You selected the Diva of Stone and it's beautiful. After all the plumbing hardware is installed no one but you will see the shading. Your tile person did a superb job...he / she is a keeper.

I completely understand where you are coming from though because I also agonize and second guess when stuff is installed or after I purchase or whether I made the best decisions in terms of placements of lights, shelves - basically everything LOL. I know that my anxiety over the whole process - all the choices big and small - all the moving parts that can go off track - all of the objective ways in which a project can end in disaster causes me to project my free floating anxiety.

Even without the trim, it is objectively beautiful and at least to me is the reason why I like natural stone versus machine made facsimiles which aren't going to have all the differentiations wrought by nature. It's why wood (at least to me) is more beautiful than fake wood.

I definitely notice the 2 sheets that are mostly gray. I would not remove the entire sheets, but I would replace maybe 5 tiles.

Thanks everyone! Just to be clear, I would definitely be paying him if we chose to rework it.

His work is wonderful and it really falls on us and our marble selection. We walked through the layout at first as well but on the floor the coloring looked more even until it was placed on a vertical wall.

We’re still debating internally as it might drive my wife crazy, but I think it looks pretty good!

Pulling out tiles can damage your waterproofing - I would leave them alone. A grouping of grey tiles is preferable to a leaking shower.

Like any natural material, stone will have color/texture/grain variations. When purchased as a mosaic on a sheet, you get what you get.

It will look different when it's grouted and when you're in the shower and it's wet. Then again, I take my glasses off to shower so everything looks different!
