Are they antique? Because if they are you might want to have them looked at by a refinishing expert. - If not, with the doors and the floors being wood, you could re-stain them to freshen them up. Or you could chalk paint or grey wash the mirror, and the maybe the desk too. You could paint them separate colors so they could be used separately in the future. Distressed grey paint for the mirror and a charcoal or dark smoke stain for the desk, for example.

Do not paint that table. It is unique antique with either inlaid or hand painted detail on the legs. I would just put huge art on the wall at entry. There isn’t enough room for a table. What style are you looking for! Check etsy, overstock, big giant art for inspiration.

It looks as if you may have a wall that you can/are walking all the way around. If it's not a weight bearing wall, you might consider removing it; however, if there is any chance it is a weight bearing wall or if it serves to block the view from the living room into a bedroom or bath, you might consider altering it to be floor to ceiling shelving instead of just a plain wall.

Agree w/FloMangan. Not an expert but that table could well be an antique -- would not paint it.

Check for cleaning products recommended for antiques such as oil soaps.

If you still don't like the look of the table once it's thoroughly cleaned, you could try rubbing it with a scratch cover product (such as Old English Scratch Cover -- they make a light (yellow), a medium (red). (They also make a dark you probably want to avoid using on an antique.)

If the mirror frame is actual wood, would not paint it either; however, if the mirror frame is not wood, you might consider painting it ... perhaps black or white.

For a narrow entrance hall: If it looks "empty" to you but there really isn't room for adding furniture, consider wainscoting (white if that's your trim color) w/painted wall w/art or mirror above.

That wall you appear to be able to wall all the way around appears to be between the dining and bed/bath sectons of the house and I see no indication of wiring or plumbing within it. Could you remove the drywall from the dining room side of the wall, reinforce and build around the posts on each end and then create shelvign that could be used as a china cabinet facing the dining area within the wall, adding solid doors over the lower shelves.

You have an interesting space. I love the beautiful floors. I agree with putting s large art piece facing the door and maybe the mirror and desk on the dining room side.
