Are you quilting this weekend? August 4-5

Hello Quilters! Have you been sewing this week? I haven't sewn anything but hope to do a lot of sewing in the coming week. I won't be babysitting because DD and her family are going on vacation. Sami and I had a Grandma and Sami day on Friday. She was here overnight, then in the morning we went shopping. We picked fabric for a unicorn pillow I am making for her, using anElizabeth Hartman pattern. She chose a unicorn and castle print for the back of the pillow and a sparkly black/gray for the background around the unicorn. I have rainbow colors to use for the mane on the unicorn. She was very definite about what she wanted for the pillow. She is also a button addict! She raided my button box to add to her button collection and also picked a card of buttons when we were shopping. lol

So...my next project will be to make the pillow. I hope to have it finished for her when she gets home from vacation.

Are you quilting or sewing this weekend?

I made a tote bag from a couple of landscape blocks my mom made. It's going to my sister for her birthday (Aug. 17). Next up is quilting another small quilt for the Baby James collection.

My Bernina 630 is in for a tune-up - tension is awful. Using my 350, which has a much nicer stitch right now. Trimmed a quilt I picked up at the long-armer yesterday. She didn’t realize the backing needed to be centered top to bottom, so i’m going to try “fixing” it with a label.

No quilting for me this weekend. It's the annual family picnic on my husband's side, and we have five out-ot-town weekend guests. I'm just trying to maintain.

I finished a Baby James quilt and started quilting a second. 17 family members coming tomorrow for dinner, and had a funeral today (no connection with tomorrow's company), so no sewing this weekend.

I did some quilting on the elephant today and DH helped me figure out how to do the background I wanted. Since it will be straight-line, it shouldn't take too long. It's larger and heavier than what I usually do myself so I'm going to have to find me some energy juice. :-)

I pulled out 5 floral applique' blocks from my UFO box with the plan of putting them together for a wall quilt. It kinda evolved into this. Still needs binding, some detail quilting around flowers and washing. I think I'm going to enter it and a couple others I've recently finished in the state fair. I've never entered a quilt contest before, so I am a bit nervous, but my husband has been urging me for years to do it. I'll let you all know the outcome ;-)

Ooops! I pinned that a bit crooked on my design wall, lol!

    Char, that is beautiful!

I am working on the fan wedding quilt between watching our granddaughter. Son & granddaughter will be over for dinner tonight so I have a couple hours to sew now before fixing dinner.

Well, my machine was not being silly, it was trying to tell me something. "Please use the large needle throat plate." When I finally listened, I was able to finish the binding on quilt 2 of 4. And then today, I sandwiched, quilted and bound quilt 3. One more to go and then I can start something new.

NK, you’re on a roll! Don’t think I could ever do that much in one day. Our nephew just called to say they had a son two days ago. Guess I need to go choose some binding fabric. Need to get it done before we head out for a month.

Theresa, you're a star! Three tops-to-quilts in one day! Wow!

I hope to give away two more quilts this morning. Two of DH's sissies are in town, and I think they're coming over this morning. Our five house guests left this morning, and I'm busy repairing the damage. A 51 year old grandma and her 2 year old grandson, plus three 20-somethings can leave a lot of sheets, towels, fingerprints, etc.

No Lois, not in one day! No Wonder Woman here but if I am feeling ok, I will go as far as I can. The first one was done early in the week, the second in fits and starts on Fri. and Sat. and the third yesterday. Now remember please, my quilts are lap sized and I only do some version of straight line quilting.

I thought I had lost my stitch in the ditch foot and fretted about it until last night at 11:30, I got up and did another search. It was right where I left it, of course. But while I was up and not ready to sleep, I sandwiched number four. I have been working on that one this morning, while the laundry was going, but I am now giving my back a little rest.

back at it in a few...

Oh, I did read your post wrong. Your accomplishments are still impressive, Theresa.

My DH’s sisters came over, and each chose a guilt. One of their daughters came along. She was so interested in my String-X quilt and so appreciative of all the work involved and all the different fabrics that I gave it to her. She was very surprised and delighted. It’s going home with her to Toronto. My pile of quilts is shrinking.

International gifting. It's a good thing.
