i would probably take a rope.. or old fashioned clothes line ... and wrap it around.. and pull it back upright ..and put a stake a few feet to the right.. to hold it up .... and i would do that.. for the fall flower show ...

in the meantime.. i would look into rejuvenation pruning.. to see how to prune it back into a more normal shape after flowering ...

make sure there arent any buried utilities.. before you pound in a stake ...

did you fert it ... wonder why the excessive growth????? .. or was it one heck of a storm ....????

It wasn't excessive growth I wouldn't say. But it bowed over and didn't spring back but I know nothing about this plant so I wasn't sure. When is the best time to prune? Thanks!

See that there is very green grass close to it. How much irrigation does it get? Usually their natural growth is tighter. rounder. I would think cutting it back pretty severely would be good. Out in the wild they get shorn by deer.

As for irrigation it gets little to no sprinkler overlap. It has a drip.

Do you have a growth period in the fall. One could do it right before that also.

I am unsure. It seems to have grown the most this summer. Pruning couldn’t kill it, could it? I just don’t know how to answer your question. How could I determine if I do have a growth period?

According to a couple of web sources, it can be hard pruned/cut back in late winter or early spring as you would with Caesalpinia.
