I have a san pedro cactus that i got years ago that had fallen on to its side and rooted out of the side. Originally it only had one stalk coming out of it but now there are 3. Two were getting quite large and pushing into each other so i decided to split them off to grow separately. The pieces I broke off have roots attached to them but also because they have just been broken off they have exposed san pedro flesh. I have always waited for this part to scab over before planting them, but in this case im not sure what to do because I dont want the roots to die. For now I planted them. There is unscabbed san pedro flesh above ground on one and below ground on another. What do you all think I should do? Should I leave them planted and hope for the best, or should i take them out of the soil, let them scab over and let the roots die and then replant them? Also, will the main cactus that i split the pieces off of be okay even though it also has an exposed unscabbed bit ( where i removed the two pieces) thats now covered in wet rocky soil?
