I've never heard of it. But Joanie, are people still buying "sets"? I personally prefer a mix. In your case, it might benefit you to purchase a higher quality bed/frame and maybe a bit lower on the other pieces.

Definitely have heard of them. I used to live near Pulaski, VA. They no longer manufacture in the U.S. like many other manufacturers. I'd go for vintage vs. new. I'd get a new headboard and then maybe vintage pieces?

The brand is sold at Costco. It gets mixed reviews. As long as it is a great price and you aren't expecting heirloom quality I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I am in agreement to getting a whole set. If you love shopping and hunting down furniture, by all means mix and match, but for me, I would like to get it all at once and be done with it.

I've heard of Pulaski and know it was sold at some of the higher-end stores in my area, but no idea about present-day quality. I used to prefer unmatched bedroom furnishings, but now I love having a set (headboard/footboard, dresser, nightstands), as the scale and proportion is exactly right -- something I struggled with in the past when going for a more eclectic look.

In the early 2000's I spent a lot of money on a matched Lexington BR set in a distressed white. I love those pieces but I never got the headboard because it was gigantic. I just use a white iron headboard. I had never had a real BR set of my own, and it was a nice gift to myself. This stuff is made like a tank.

We purchased a Pulaski bedroom set back in the early 1980s. Seemed pretty high end to us and it held up well. Not sure if the quality is the same today.

Smaller community, Pulaski used to be sold at our higher end furniture store. I had a set of the chairs for my built-in breakfast table and they held up well for many years including the caned seats. I can't speak for today's quality, and retired the chairs (gave them to a neighbor) when we moved 5 years ago - can only verify it was once a decent mid-range brand.

We have had a corner cabinet in our dining room for almost 30 years, that is Pulaski. It doesn't get much use (who really goes in and out of their china cabinets that frequently?), but it has held up well. I would classify it just as morz8 did, a decent mid range brand.

Thank you all. It’s at a local furniture store and I’m going for a second look at it this afternoon. Not looking for heirloom quality at this stage in life since the kids won’t want it when we die! I’ve been looking for months at stores and online and nothing has bowled me over but I think I could live with this set. Just not sure of the color...kind of that greige that’s popular now. Most stores only have 5-6 sets on display and I’m hesitant to buy online....not only sight unseen, but what a pain (and expense) to send it back.

If it's for YOUR bedroom, I hope you find something more than "you think you could live with it."!! Do you like antiques and if so, do you have any good antique stores around? Not sure how you feel about second hand, but have you looked on Craig's list, etc. I hope you find something you love!! Your bedroom should be special.

bizarro Houzz world. I saw this post earlier this morning and I was the first to reply and it is not here. I think it was actually on the Home Decorating not conversation side? I thought when you check off the forums, that it combines them. Apparently not. Anyway I did reply that I have had Pulaski since 1990 ish and it has held up beautifully.
