You need to work with the kitchen designer. It might be that their design would work better if the window was two inches narrower, or one inch higher, or 5/8 of an inch to the left. Don't rush this!

Yes , as long as it is inside that opening, goiing to the left or right of it will require headaches.

@Skii367 - We've definitely gone over the details with her and this side of the kitchen has some flexibility when it comes to the cabinet placement so she was deferring to us as to the size/exact placement of the window due to the flexibility.

@toddinmn - Was definitely going to stay inside the opening to avoid moving studs, etc. I think I just wasn't sure what to expect when asking for exact placement as moving a 1/4" to the left or right could cause some asymmetry with the cabinet placement.

You should gain some space once the door frame is removed to move it either way if you are goin to the studs.

Moving it out of the opening to either side will require more work so try very hard to stay within the confines of the opening as to width and then just worry about the height to stay withing that too. Assymettry in a kichen is to be expected the whole kitchen design should be pratical and that means very often that symmetry goes out the window but balance can still be acheived.
