Are you going to throw the extra pillows in shams on a bench or will you keep them on the bed when you sleep? There's no right answer. Many people throw their extra pillows on the floor at night which certainly doesn't keep them looking like an ad in RH.

Many people just order extra pillowcases with their sheets to go with a second set of king pillows. Some people want matching sham covers for the duvet. It's a matter of personal preference.

If you buy two sets of the perfect king pillows once you find them, you can rotate them for wear and tear. If you get Euro pillows, they will just be decorative.

@apple_pie_order I was raised that anything other than your sleeping pillow is "decorative" and thus should be removed before bedtime. So regardless of what I end up with, they will be removed and probably placed in a chair or on a bench (not sure which because I don't have one as of yet), but certainly not thrown on the floor since we share our room with two dogs who would rather lay on a pile of laundry than their premium dog beds. I can only imagine what they would do to pillows!

I know that there are numerous ways to arrange pillows and it comes down to personal preference, but I guess I'd like to hear opinions on what others would do. I'm really thinking I probably need some Euros due to the height of the headboard. But if so, I'm unsure if they should match the duvet. I'm currently envisioning 3 Euros across the back possibly matching the quilt. So what do I do beyond that? 2 King shams that match the duvet? That makes 5 pillows to remove every night without even getting into the throw pillows. I don't mind it, but can definitely hear my husband complaining. Ack, I was so sure I knew what I wanted until I started trying to figure out these pesky pillows!

Can you make a mockup of the Euro pillows with paper or a cardboard box or two?

This link might help you visualize options. I like the idea of Euros because of the height of your headboard. You might be able to do two (in ivory or white), with your two sleeping pillows in front and then two more standard shams in front of those in ivory. Add color with a throw kilm. A blanket at the bottom of the bed to coordinate with the kilm is a great idea. You can check a site like amazon for shams in white or ivory that might look like they go with your duvet. If you use two sets of shams, then I think white in the back can work, but ivory to match the duvet in the front. I have shames that don't quite match my duvet and I regret it. I should have just sprung for the matching, but I'm with you- the price seems so high for something decorative.

A second idea is to use sleeping pillows lying flat (two stacks of two is best), king or Euros in front of those, and one long bolster in front. You can always choose a fabric you love and have a bolter made. Good luck!

So, I'll share 2 pics of my bed -with &without Euro pillows. I have the same PB quilt-love & easy to wash. I air dry it.

I much prefer the look with the 3euro pillows(IKEA &ikea down inserts=cheap!!), but live with the 2nd picture for day to day living. Because I'm tired when I go to bed & don't want to fuss with pillows!!

1. 3 euros, 4 king sleeping pillows, 1accent-for when I have company!!:) I would throw a down comforter under the quilt, too so it would look extra fluffy &inviting. Only when having party, thou!!!

2. 4 king sleeping pillows & truthfully, the accent pillow is usually tossed!!

Im also a big advocate of IKEA for mixing in prints/patterns. My duvet cover is IKEA, too

I'll tell you what I did with my king bed that has a high headboard. I use 3 euro pillows in the back for the height. I used standard pillows with my matching shams that goes to my quilt. ( I couldn't find the shams in king) I use the pillow cases that goes with my sheet set with my king pillows. I have about 9 pillows on my bed. I like pillows and the other two are decorative and don't mind taking them off. I wish I had a picture.

You could do a long bolster or roll in front of the euro pillows. My old shams and long roll bolster included red and I need to have the bolster slipcovered to go with my newest colors.

I think that you will like the Target Threshold quilt since I have a similar one and it goes great with my linen sheets. Check out the other Threshold lines for shams or other sheets. I like their vintage wash, chambray linen and percale. I think they fit with the other pieces you've picked out.

I remembered that the Queen bed upstairs has Euros (which were not chosen by me, so please ignore the style), so I went and stole them. I’ve attached a photo and this definitely confirms that I need 3. I’m going to take some time to read back through all of your different suggestions.

@Sharyn yes, I have been quite impressed with the Threshold line for the price point! We have a guest house rental and a decorater friend of my MIL’s sourced a Threshold quilt for one of the bedrooms. I couldn’t believe it came from Target! I’m so glad to hear you’ve had good experiences with your items also.

I have a quilt with matching shams for the summer and a much thicker quilt for winter on my king-size bed, and a bed skirt that works for both of them. They each came with two matching shams which I stuffed with bed pillows that I already have (not the ones we sleep on) and I have two decorative pillows in front of the shams. The shams and decorative pillows come off at night of course. It's a simple arrangement which works well for my husband and me. I like your kilim pillows which will add a nice accent of color to your bed.
