This is the garage door. The house is currently being built. The siding is white and the roof is black.

Where? What direction does the garage door face?

The garage door is to the right of the front door

White garage door to blend with the siding like CP stated above.

Don't put the shutters on the double or triple windows like your sketch shows, just on the single windows. Size them so that each shutter is 1/2 the size of the window and not the skinny shutters builders like to use to save money.

White is much, much better. You want to bring the focus to the front door and not the garage door. Consider a different accent color for the front door. Having said that, a black, white with red accents is a classic. If you do go with a black garage door it will overwhelm the house facade.

Remove the shutters. They are not needed. Instead beef up the trim around the windows.

So against all of Houzz’s advice but following our designers advice and trends in our neighbourhood our garage will be black. Yes it will draw the eye to the garage more but we’ve painstakingly looked at houses and colours and hubby and I both prefer the look. So go with what you want.

Another vote for white.

Unless there's a good aesthetic argument to be made, I prefer garage doors to blend in rather than to stand out. I find making garage doors stand out is 1) visually jarring and imbalanced and 2) confusing to visitors, for whom it's nice to to make the front door (or whatever door they will be using) more prominent.

For most houses, a garage is a necessity but not an aesthetic feature to be enhanced.

If a garage door is around 1/3 of your front facade there is no hiding it. For me the most important thing is that you don't go cheap on one third of the front of your house.

Our house has a front facing garage with 2 single doors. It is a Spanish style house and had a nice large wood stained front door. The previous owners had put in the cheapest garage doors available and painted them brown. Changing the garage doors was one of the first things we did. We had custom wood garage doors made that matched the front door. It really changed the look of the house, by making the garage doors an attractive and complementary part of the overall facade. Even now, years later, when I bump into a local stranger and tell them where I live, I will hear comments about the garage doors elevating the whole look of the house.

White or black are colors I would never paint a garage door if you can even call them colors.

7 months... I'm guessing they're finished now.

We went with black but then had it changed to white. There was an issue the garage door company was having with the black paint color so it looked brown in bright like. We ended up switching it out for white since it was the safer options.
