Floating Mantel - Farmhouse Modern/Transitional

I am trying to place a floating mantel (Fir) to match the fir beams we have. The living room is open concept with the kitchen and dining. The living room has 11' ceilings. The fireplace is to be austin stone veneer to match the outside of the house. The stone will not wrap around. There will be white cabinets on either side of the fireplace with three floating shelves above them (to be stained - dark walnut (old masters)). We have a superior fireplace installed - DRC 2045. The fireplace is 10" off the ground. Putting the very top of the fireplace at 47 1/8". I know that to have a 6" protruding mantel, it will need to be 12" high over the top of the fireplace, according to the manual. Right now my thought is to do a 6"(high) X 8"(deep) X 64"(wide) Mantel - 12" above the fireplace(i know it should be 14" - my thought is that its too high).

My questions are - is 8" deep mantel too big or too small?, How many inches between the mantel and the TV is normal (60" TV)?, and do I mount the mantel on top of the stone or do i stone around the beam?
